Adobe Creative Suite 6 update on policy change

Effective Jan 1, 2017, Adobe will no longer offer Creative Suite 6 software under the Cumulative Licensing Program (CLP) or Transactional Licensing Program (TLP) in China. Creative Cloud is the exclusive source of innovation to Adobe creative tools.

Adobe and our authorized Adobe resellers in China will work closely with CLP and TLP customers to identify the right time to make the move to Creative Cloud and to ensure that the transition is smooth.

If you have further questions, contact your Adobe account manager or authorized Adobe reseller.

FAQ

Beginning Jan 1, 2017, Adobe will no longer sell Creative Suite 6 via the Cumulative Licensing Program
(CLP) or Transactional Licensing Program (TLP). This change will be applicable across commercial and
government segments. Adobe Acrobat and other Adobe products sold via CLP and TLP will remain
available.

No, the CLP and TLP buying programs will continue to be available for other Adobe products. Acrobat and other products are still available for sale under CLP and TLP, and there are no plans to remove Acrobat from CLP or TLP in the near future.

We encourage you to consider Adobe Creative Cloud as the only source of Adobe creative tools.

In the spring of 2012, we launched Creative Cloud—a membership to Adobe’s full range of creative
applications—with the belief that it would benefit our customers by giving them access to our tools and services as they’re updated. We also announced that CS6 was our last perpetual software release. Since then, we’ve delivered over thousands of new features exclusively to Creative Cloud members, which is now available through the Value Incentive Plan (VIP) in China. Discontinuing CS6 from CLP and TLP simplifies our creative offerings, and helps ensure our customers get the latest and greatest tools.

Small and medium-sized businesses should consider purchasing Creative Cloud for teams, and enterprises should consider purchasing Creative Cloud for enterprise .

Creative Cloud for teams brings together the very latest Creative Cloud desktop apps, updates, and upgrades the moment they are released—and all of the business features your team needs to create their best work. Adobe offers two Creative Cloud for teams plans. The All Apps plan includes all CC apps; the Single App plan includes one app, such as Adobe Photoshop CC. With each option, you’ll receive access to the same easy-to-use web-based admin console that allows the administrator to centrally purchase, deploy, and manage all seats across your organization under one membership agreement.

Creative Cloud for enterprise includes everything in Creative Cloud for teams, plus advanced license and user management capabilities.

Adobe offers several ways to purchase Creative Cloud memberships:
- Individual teachers and students can purchase the Creative Cloud Student & Teacher edition for personal use.
- K-12 schools and school districts can purchase Creative Cloud for Education via Value Incentive Program (VIP).
- Colleges and universities can purchase Creative Cloud for Education via VIP on an as-needed basis or explore larger-scale customizable Enterprise Term License Agreements (ETLA).

Your existing Creative Suite product installation is not affected by the end-of-sales of CS6. Purchasing and installing Creative Cloud also does not prevent you from accessing Creative Suite. For example, you can install and use the perpetually licensed Photoshop CS6 on the same computer as Photoshop CC. Furthermore, your Creative Cloud membership includes archived versions of CS6, so you can install the desktop apps if needed.

CS6 was released in 2012 and is not supported on newer operating systems. Windows 8.1 and Mac OSX v10.9 are the latest compatible OS versions.

Creative Suite customers are eligible for basic support from Adobe. CS6 support for Gold Plan members ended in 2014. For more information, see Adobe Support Policies: Supported Product Versions.

Many of the Creative Cloud desktop applications let you export files to the Creative Suite 6 version of that same application. New features added to the desktop applications after CS6 may not be supported in the exported file, or by the CS6 application.

The following CC applications support the ability to export to the CS6 version of the application:

  • Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • Illustrator
  • Animate
  • Dreamweaver
  • After Effects

Applications not listed here may not support exporting to Creative Suite 6, and may not do so in future releases. New features added to the above list after CS6 may not be supported in the exported file, or by the CS6 application.

The Value Incentive Plan (VIP) and CLP are different and separate volume-based buying programs. Purchases of Acrobat and other Adobe products available on CLP will continue to accumulate points, and be used in the determination of your volume discount level. Unlike CLP, the VIP program offers transactional discounting. For more information on available discounts in VIP, contact Adobe or your authorized Adobe reseller.
