CQDE5 Crashes with OutOfMemoryError PermGen

Symptoms

CQDE5 crashes or hangs after prolonged usage and the following error may show up in .cqde/.metadata/.log file under your home directory:

!MESSAGE Unhandled event loop exception
!STACK 0
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
       at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
       at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source)
       at
org.eclipse.osgi.internal.baseadaptor.DefaultClassLoader.defineClass
(DefaultClassLoader.java:165)
       at org.eclipse.osgi.baseadaptor.loader.ClasspathManager.defineClass
(ClasspathManager.java:554)
       at org.eclipse.osgi.baseadaptor.loader.ClasspathManager.findClassImpl
(ClasspathManager.java:524)

Resolution

Eclipse code uses a lot of PermGen space. The solution is to set permgen space in CQDE.ini to 256m.
Add -XX:MaxPermSize=256m to your CQDE.ini file:

-vmargs
-Xms256m
-Xmx512m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m

Applies to
