Create custom gradients

Learn how to create custom gradients using color swatches and apply them to backgrounds, shapes, text, or images in Adobe Express deisgns.

Follow along with a design to learn how to set custom gradients.

Open a design in Adobe Express and select an object on the page.

In the left panel, select the color picker labeled Color, Fill, Border, or Outline.

Select Custom, then switch between Solid fill  , Linear gradient  , or Radial gradient  .

Note

Gradient direction is applied left-to-right by default for Linear gradient and inside-to-out for Radial gradient.

Select the plus   icon to add up to five color swatches. If only one swatch remains, the fill style automatically switches back to solid.

Select Invert   to flip the gradient direction by 180 degrees.

Select Rotate   to rotate the Linear gradient by 45 degrees.

Drag the color swatches on the gradient bar to adjust the gradient spread.

Tip
  • To quickly apply a gradient to your design, select Swatches from the color picker and choose from 20 preset gradients.
  • You can also customize the page background color by applying custom gradients.
