Unable to access policy-protected documents in Internet Explorer
AEM Forms server is unable to access policy-protected documents in Microsoft Internet Explorer


This issue applies to policy-protected documents kept on an HTTP server and accessed using Microsoft Internet Explorer. If user enters wrong credentials even once, the policy-protected document does not open later even with the correct credentials. It is a client-side issue, server logs do not display any error.  


  • LiveCycle ES4 SP1
  • AEM 6.1 Forms or later


To avoid this issue on Internet Explorer, change the website data settings as described below:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.  

  2. Navigate to Internet Options > General > Settings > Temporary Internet Files.

  3. Select option Every time I visit the web page on the Website Data Settings dialog and click OK.  

    Also, clear the browser cookies and cache and restart the browser.  


Now, you can open policy-protected documents in Internet Explorer.
