Fix crash issues for Creative Cloud apps

Learn what to do when you are no longer able to open Creative Cloud apps and they crash when you try to open them.

Why do my Creative Cloud apps crash when I try opening them?

When you launch some Creative Cloud apps, the application window is briefly displayed, and then the application exits without an error message. This usually occurs when an update is pending for your Creative Cloud app or for the Creative Cloud desktop app.

How to fix the issue

Try the following solutions in the given order. Go to the next solution only if a preceding one doesn't fix the issue.

Solution 1: Sign out and sign back in

Sign out of your Creative Cloud account, and then sign back in. This resets the account information, which allows the Creative Cloud app to launch.

  1. Select the Account icon in the upper right, and then select Sign out.

The Account menu showing options such as Preferences, Sign out, and monthly generative credits for Gen AI features.
You'll be signed out of your account.

  2. Once you are signed out, sign in to the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. Try opening your Creative Cloud app.
