The Starwood Hotels digital analytics team is responsible for measuring traffic on more than 1,300 independent sites, the vast majority of which are built, hosted, and maintained by agencies. Approximately half of the visitors to these sites come via starwoodhotels.com, driving substantial traffic.On average, the Starwood Hotels team adds more than a dozen hotels and launches four to 10 new marketing sites a month. Each agency varies in its experience with Adobe Analytics implementations, with some being very familiar and others having no previous exposure.
I’m still surprised how often I hear people who work in analytics or digital marketing—even seasoned professionals—refer to themselves as “non-technical.” Of course, we can’t all be experts on every technical topic, but not having a practical understanding of basic technical Web concepts and technologies can really limit your effectiveness and potential.
I was recently asked to speak at the Digital Analytics Association Symposium in Washington, D.C. on the future of analytics and building digital foundations.
