Step 1: Collect Analytics Metrics

When you configure your mobile app to include Lifecycle metrics, you have access to basic metrics data such as the number of installs and crashes, app updates, and average session length. To measure engagement, you need to collect metrics that show how your app is being used. Adobe Analytics can measure the actions users take, and how content is viewed in your app.

(trackState 1:15; context data 1:30; trackAction 1:51; map context data to report variables 3:22)

Decisions

  • Which user data do I want to collect?
That depends on your mobile app. For general information about data collection options, see Data Collection and this blog article.

Steps

  1. To add details about which views and actions your customers are using in your mobile app, configure your app to include app states and app actions.

  2. In Mobile Services UI, add the app states and actions you included in your mobile app as custom variables.
