How to key and motion track Adobe Stock Green Screen clips in Premiere Pro

Click “Videos" and then search for “laptop green screen open space office”.

License the selection and download it to your computer.

Note: You can also search and license directly inside Premiere Pro within the Libraries panel.

In your Projects panel, or inside a Bin, right-click and choose Import.

Navigate to the location on your hard where you downloaded the licensed Adobe Stock clips, and select them.

In your Project panel, right-click on the video clip you intend to key into the green screen and choose New Sequence From Clip. This will place it on track V1.

Next, drag your Adobe Stock green screen clip onto track V2 above.

Use the Ultra Key effect to easily key out the Stock green screen.

Drop the Ultra Key effect onto your green screen clip in the timeline.

With your clip selected in the timeline, choose the Effect Controls panel in the Source window. 

Locate and select the eye dropper tool in Effect Controls and click the green chroma key color in your Adobe Stock clip on the Program Monitor.

Because our example green screen has darker corner targets, we’ll need to fine-tune the Ultra Key. Open the Matte Generation dropdown menu in the Ultra Key in the Effects Control panel. Select Shadow, and bring it down to 20. 

Next, open Matte Cleanup, and set Choke to 10 and Soften to 5.

That should remove the targets on your image.

Use the Corner Pin effect to resize and track your composition.

In the Effects Panel navigate to Video Effects > Distort > Corner Pin and drag and drop the effect onto the first video track where you need to skew and resize the time lapse to match the laptop.

With the upper video track still selected, click on the Effects Controls tab in the Source window to reveal the controls for the Corner Pin effect.

Park your playhead a few frames into the dolly movement. Click the stopwatch icon next to each of the four Corner Pin controls to enable key frames.

In turn, click on each of the four controls in the Effects Controls panel, and move their corresponding targets to the corners of the laptop. Err on the side of just outside the laptop edge. It may crop a small portion of the video clip, but it won’t reveal any blank screen.

At the end of the camera move, reposition each of the four corners.

Move the playhead to a few frames before the end of the tracking shot on the laptop, and reposition each of the four corners in the Corner Pin on your timelapse image.

Tweak the Ultra Key settings until you fine-tune it to look clean. Begin by making small adjustments in the Matte Generation dropdown menu in the Effect Controls tab. Pay attention to how your modifications change the edge of your chroma key.

Play your video to check for green screen artifacts. You’re most likely to find trouble at the edge of your green screen matte. Return to step 7 to fine-tune it if need be.

Export your video with a Premiere Pro preset for social media or desktop presentations.
