Release Notes | March 2018 (13.1) release of InDesign CC Server

Welcome to April 2018 release of Adobe® InDesign® CC Server. This document contains late-breaking product information, updates, and troubleshooting tips not covered in the InDesign Server documentation.

Minimum system requirements

License agreement

Internet connection, Adobe ID, and acceptance of license agreement required to activate and use this product. This product may integrate with or allow access to certain Adobe or third-party hosted online services. Adobe services are available only to users 13 and older and require agreement to additional terms of use and Adobe’s online privacy policy (http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/legal.html). Applications and Services may not be available in all countries or languages and may be subject to change or discontinuation without notice. Additional fees or membership charges may apply.

Additional install/uninstall scenarios

InDesign CC Server needs to be activated before it can be used. If the computer is online, activation is done automatically when you install. You need to provide your Adobe ID, and serial number when prompted by the installer. Unless the software is activated, you'll see an error, "Adobe InDesign CC Server’ is not properly licensed and will now quit."

If your computer is not connected to the Internet, download and install Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition (APTEE). You can serialize and activate the software using APTEE.

Note:

The software will not get deactivated during an offline uninstall. The computer must be online during uninstall to deactivate, else will lose an activation count.

Activate trial using APTEE

To activate the trial version, download and install Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition (APTEE). You can use the trial for a period of 90 days.

  1. Open a terminal or console window and run the following command:

    Windows:

    adobe_prtk --tool=StartTrial --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Win-GM

    Mac:

    adobe_prtk --tool=StartTrial --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Mac-GM

    Note:

    Ensure that you have administrative privileges to run this command.

  2. If trial is successfully activated, the following message is displayed:

    StartTrial Successful

    Return Code = 0

Serialize using APTEE (Online)

If your computer running InDesign Server is online, you can serialize and activate the software using the following procedure:

  1. Open a terminal or console window and run the following command:

    Windows:

    adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Win-GM --serial=<serialNumber> --adobeid=<email>

    Mac:

    adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Mac-GM --serial=<serialNumber> --adobeid=<email>

    Note:

    Ensure that you have administrative privileges to run this command.

  2. If serialization is successful, the following message is displayed:

    Return Code = 0

Serialize using APTEE (Offline)

If your computer running InDesign Server is offline, you can serialize and activate the software using the following procedure:

  1. On a computer that is connected to the Internet, open a terminal or console window and run the following command:

    Windows:

    adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial={serial number} --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Win-GM --provfilepath={absolute path where you have write access, or leave blank to write to the directory that contains adobe_prtk}

    Mac:

    adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial={serial number} --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Mac-GM --provfilepath={absolute path where you have write access, or leave blank to write to the directory that contains adobe_prtk}

    Note:

    Ensure that you have administrative privileges to run this command.

  2. After the above command is successfully completed, the following message is displayed on the terminal or console:

    Return Code = 0

    Also, a prov.xml file is generated at the path specified in the --provfilepath argument in the  ommand.

  3. Copy the prov.xml file to a folder on the computer that is running InDesign Server and run the following command:

    Windows / Mac:

    adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --provfile={absolute path of the prov.xml file on the target machine}
