If your webcam does not work and you can’t see images, try these steps:

  • If you are visiting a website that uses the webcam, try a different browser.
  • Close all other applications that use the webcam, such as Yahoo! Messenger. Then try accessing the webcam with the application that you want to use. Only one application can use a webcam at a time.
  • Change the Flash settings.
    1. Go to any web page that uses Flash with a webcam.
      After the page loads, a pop-up window appears asking you to allow the website to access the camera and microphone.
    2. Click Allow.

    3. If the webcam area is blank, right-click it.
    4. Click Settings.

    5. Click the webcam icon and change the camera option to match the webcam that you use. For example, if you are using a built-in webcam, select Integrated Camera.

    6. Click the privacy icon and ensure that the option Allow is selected.

    7. Click Close.
      If the webcam is working, a preview appears.
    8. Go to the website where you had trouble with the webcam, and repeat these steps.
  • Delete caches and cookies. Close the browser and then reopen it.
    • In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options > General. Under Browsing History, click Delete.

    • In Mozilla Firefox, click Tools > Options > Advanced. Under Offline Storage, click Clear Now.

    • In Safari, click Safari Settings > Reset Safari.

  • Delete all saved websites from the Website Privacy Settings Panel.

    2. Click Delete All Sites.

  • Ensure that you have installed the most recent version of Flash Player.
    1. Go to the Flash Player product page.
    2. Find the Version Information box on the Flash Player product page. The box displays the version of Flash Player that we detect on your computer.
    3. Compare the number in the box to the version for your platform in the list at the bottom of the page. If the versions do not match, uninstall Flash Player and install the most recent version.
  • If you are using an external webcam, ensure that you have installed the most recent driver software. Visit your webcam manufacturer’s website for the latest information.
