Proxy Servers allow users to browse content on your site using an intermediary server. This affects Adobe Analytics in several ways, and results heavily depend on the proxy server used:

  • Image requests still fire, as long as the proxy server allows JavaScript. The Adobe Debugger does not always recognize image requests fired via proxies, so it is recommened to use a packet monitor in this scenario.
  • The URL variable is set to the proxy server used, not the URL of your site. Depending on your internal URL filters, proxied visitors can affect Traffic Sources reports.
  • Cookies are still set and referenced at the domain specified under s.trackingServer. 1st party cookies are treated as 3rd party cookies due to page URL and cookie domain being different.
  • Chrome's SPDY proxy does not affect Adobe Analytics data collection.
