Remove special characters from URLs | Scene7

Issue

Facebook shows broken images when someone clicks "Like," and my application cannot handle special characters in URLs. How can I remove special characters from URLs?

Solution

Some applications, such as Facebook, can't use special characters (such as $, &, and ?) in URLs. So, when image URLs contain these characters, the image isn't displayed, or the parameters are not applied.

In Scene7 Publishing System (SPS), you can upload an XML ruleset file that contains regular expressions (RegEx). These expressions translate one ULR type (that is, one without special chars) into one type that the Scene7 Image Server can accept.

To enable these expressions in your account, go to the Image Server (Or Image Render) Publish setup page. Set the Rule Set Definition file path, and save and publish.
