Issue

When you try to download Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements, the download is not successful and one of the following message is displayed:

413 Header length too long when trying to download Photoshop Elements <version number>.

413 Header length too long when trying to download Premiere Elements <version number>.

Solution

This issue can arise due to existing cookies in web browser cache. Clearing the browser cache and cookies should resolve the issue:

  1. Quit the current download
  2. Clear the browser cookies and cache. For more information on how to do this, see How to clear browser cache and cookies.
  3. Download Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements again.

How to clear browser cache and cookies

The following sections include instructions on how to clear browser cache and cookies for common browsers.

Chrome

  1. In the browser Address bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  2. Select the following:
  • Browsing history
  • Download history
  • Cookies and other site and plug-in data
  • Cached images and files

From the ‘Obliterate the following items from’ drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select ‘Beginning of time’.

  1. Click Clear browsing data.
  2. Close all browser windows and reopen the browser.
     

Firefox

  1. From the History menu, select Clear Recent History. If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.
  2. From the Time range to clear drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Details to choose which elements of the history to clear; to clear your entire cache, select All items.
  4. Click Clear Now.
  5. Close all browser windows and then reopen the browser.

Internet Explorer 9 and later

  1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history. If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.
  2. Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select:
  • Temporary Internet files or Temporary Internet files and website files
  • Cookies or Cookies and website data
  • History
  1. Click Delete. You will see a confirmation at the bottom of the window when the process is complete. 
  2. Close all browser windows and then reopen the browser.

Opera

  1. From the Opera menu, select Settings, and then Delete Private Data...
  2. In the dialog box that opens, select the items you want to clear, and then click Delete.
  3. Close all browser windows and then re-open the browser.

Safari

Safari 8

  1. From the Safari menu, select Clear History and Website Data...
  2. Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History
  3. Select Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser.
     

Safari 7 and earlier

  1. From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari...
  2. Select the items you want to reset, and then click Reset. In Safari 5.1, Remove all website data removes both cookies and cache.
  3. Select Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser.
