Issue: Users see screen redraw errors and experience crashing with NVIDIA GPUs.

Users have been experiencing screen redraw errors and crashing on Mac computers with NVIDA GPUs. These computers are running Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite (or later) and Premiere Pro CC (or later) with GPU acceleration for the Mercury Playback Engine set to CUDA in Project Settings.

NVIDIA has been working with Adobe to determine the source of the problem.

Solution: Set renderer to Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL)

Certain NVIDIA GPUs support both CUDA and OpenCL, so the temporary solution is to run Premiere Pro CC using OpenCL, if possible:

  1. To change the setting, choose File > Project Settings > General.
  2. In the General tab under Video Rendering and Playback > Renderer, choose Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL).
  3. Select the option to delete previews.

Following these steps to allow for OpenCL GPU acceleration reduces the occurrence of the problem.
