What is Adobe Experience Manager Sites 6.3 ("AEM Sites")?

AEM Sites is a web content management platform for delivering digital cross-channel customer experiences and provides an authoring environment with support for in-place editing, drag-and-drop page composition from a library of web components, and controls for search engine optimization, scheduled delivery, and landing page optimization.

AEM Sites: Product limitations

1.  AEM Sites

Licensing.  A separate AEM Sites Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites. AEM Sites includes use of the Media Library functionalities of AEM Assets. AEM Sites does not include licenses for Users, which must be licensed separately.

2.  AEM Sites Managed Services

Licensing. A separate AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services. AEM Sites Managed Services includes use of the Media Library functionalities of AEM Assets. AEM Sites Managed Services does not include licenses for Users or CDN services, both of which must be licensed separately.

Embedded On-demand Services:

  • Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites. For customers without a license to Adobe Analytics, AEM Sites Managed Services includes use of the Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites Distributed Code on any Customer Site maintained by AEM Sites Managed Services and use of the reporting functionality available within AEM Sites Managed Services.  Use of Adobe Analytics Essentials across AEM Managed Services and AEM Mobile On-demand Services is limited to 150 million Primary Server Calls per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms) Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Primary Server Calls per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Primary Server Calls per month spread across Customer’s Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments)) .  No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, is included with Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites.
  • Adobe Experience Targeting. For customers without a license to Adobe Target, AEM Sites Managed Services includes use of the Adobe Experience Targeting Distributed Code on any Customer Site maintained by AEM Sites Managed Services and the Adobe Experience Targeting rules-based targeting functionality available within AEM Sites Managed Services, for up to 150 million Page Views per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Experience Targeting deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites and Forms), Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Page Views per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Page Views per month spread across Customer's Sites, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms Adobe Experience Targeting deployments)).  No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, and no A/B testing functionality is included with Adobe Experience Targeting.
  • Customer Data. Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites and Adobe Experience Targeting are On-demand Services.  Customer Data collected by these On-demand Services is stored outside of AEM Sites Managed Services in their respective On-demand Services environments, although Customer Data may be replicated and stored within AEM Sites Managed Services to facilitate reporting within AEM Sites Managed Services. These On-demand Services are not provided under the Minimum Uptime Percentage or any other Managed Services infrastructure-related, backup, storage, encryption, or support obligations set forth in the Agreement.

Included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 250 gigabytes per Author and Publish Instance.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 500 gigabytes per month per Author and Publish Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of one terabyte per Author and Publish Instance.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 50 gigabytes per Author and Publish Instance.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 50 gigabytes per month per Author and Publish Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments. 

3.  AEM Sites Managed Services Basic

Licensing. A separate AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services Basic.  AEM Sites Managed Services Basic does not support CDN services.

Embedded On-demand Services:

  • Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites. AEM Sites Managed Services Basic includes use of the Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites Distributed Code on any Customer Site maintained by AEM Sites Managed Services Basic and use of the reporting functionality available within AEM Sites Managed Services Basic.  Use of Adobe Analytics Essential for Sites is limited to the Page View limit associated with Customer’s AEM Sites Managed Services Basic deployment.  No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, is included with Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites.
  • Adobe Experience Targeting. AEM Sites Managed Services Basic includes use of the Adobe Experience Targeting Distributed Code on any Customer Site maintained by AEM Sites Managed Services Basic and the Adobe Experience Targeting rules-based targeting functionality available within AEM Sites Managed Services Basic.  Use of Adobe Experience Targeting is limited to the Page View limit associated with Customer’s AEM Sites Managed Services Basic deployment.  No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, and no A/B testing functionality is included with Adobe Experience Targeting.
  • Customer Data. Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites and Adobe Experience Targeting are On-demand Services.  Customer Data collected by these On-demand Services is stored outside of AEM Sites Managed Services Basic in their respective On-demand Services environments, although Customer Data may be replicated and stored within AEM Sites Managed Services Basic to facilitate reporting within AEM Sites Managed Services Basic. These On-demand Services are not provided under the Minimum Uptime Percentage or any other Managed Services infrastructure-related, backup, storage, encryption, or support obligations set forth in the Agreement.

AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: Standard, included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 200 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 750 gigabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of 600 gigabytes.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Sites Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 100 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 300 gigabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud. 
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: High Redundancy, included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 750 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 1.25 terabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of one terabyte.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 450 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 500 gigabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

4.  AEM Sites Add-ons

Additional Instances. Additional Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Sites or AEM Sites Managed Services.

Users. User licenses may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package, AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed.  

Commerce. Commerce Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package, AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package configured for AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: High Redundancy has been licensed.  Commerce Instances must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author and Publish Instances deployed as part of the AEM Deployment where the Commerce functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activated (even if not continuously in use).

AEM Assets. AEM Assets Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package, AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package, or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed. Use of AEM Assets is limited to the support of a web content management system.

  • For AEM Sites and AEM Sites Managed Services:
    • when the Asset Share Feature is used, AEM Assets Instance must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author and Publish Instances deployed on the AEM Deployment where AEM Assets functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activated (even if not continuously in use); or 
    • when the Asset Share Feature is not used, AEM Assets Instances must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author Instances deployed on the AEM Deployment where the AEM Assets functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activated (even if not continuously in use). 
  • For AEM Sites Managed Services Basic, AEM Assets must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author Instances deployed on the AEM Deployment where the AEM Assets functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activiated (even if not continuously in use). When AEM Assets is an add-on to AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: Standard, AEM Assets includes 300 gigabytes of storage. Use of AEM Assets does not include use of (i) the Asset Share Feature, or (ii) 3D capabilities to upload, manage, preview and render 3D assets.

Dynamic Media and Video. Dynamic Media and Video may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package, AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package and AEM Assets add-on have been licensed. Use of dynamic banner templates is restricted to segmented use only, not 1:1 personalization. Origin server requests for banners cannot exceed 30% of total requests for the account. In the event origin requests exceed 30% of the total requests, Customer must purchase the Personalized Media add-on. Dynamic Media and Video is provided with 60 gigabytes of aggregate on-demand storage. Access to some of the features and functionality included in Dynamic Media and Video may be provided through alternate interfaces, which may be branded as Adobe Scene7 or Dynamic Media Classic. Adobe may, at its sole discretion, update the branding of the alternate interfaces and consolidate such features and functionality into a single access interface.

Personalized Media. Personalized Media may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package and AEM Assets add-on have been licensed. Personalized Media is provided with 60 gigabytes of aggregate on-demand storage. The Dynamic Media and Video functionality included with Personalized Media (when licensed separate from Dynamic Media and Video), can only be used to enable Customer’s use of the Visual Configurator and 1:1 Templates components of Personalized Media. Access to some of the features and functionality included in Personalized Media may be provided through alternate interfaces, which may be branded as Adobe Scene7 or Dynamic Media Classic. Adobe may, at its sole discretion, update the branding of the alternate interfaces and consolidate such features and functionality into a single access interface.

Brand Portal. Brand Portal may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package and AEM Assets add-on have been licensed. Brand Portal is provided with 10 terabytes of aggregate On-demand Services-based storage per customer, regardless of the number of Brand Portal Users licensed. Each Brand Portal User logging onto the Brand Portal user interface during a 12-month period of the License Term is counted as one Brand Portal User.

Smart Content Services. Smart Content Services Base Package may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package and AEM Assets add-on have been licensed. Use of Smart Content Services is limited to up to 2 million tagged images per year. Duplicate images processed and tagged will each count as a tagged image.

AEM Communities. AEM Communities Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed. AEM Communities Instances must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author and Publish Instances deployed as part of the AEM Deployment where the Communities functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activated (even if not continuously in use). AEM Communities Instances added to AEM Sites Managed Services have a Minimum Uptime Percentage equal to the lesser of the Minimum Uptime Percentage associated with the AEM Sites Instances or 99.9%. Customer must license the AEM Communities Extension for use with AEM Communities add-on to AEM Sites Managed Services. An Enablement Member license is needed to create sites or use site templates (e.g. Reference Structure Learning Site Template) that include Assignment functions.

Enablement Members. Enablement Members may only be added to an AEM Deployment where the AEM Communities add-on has been appropriately licensed. An Enablement Member license may not be used concurrently (i.e. the same login ID may not be used by more than one Enablement Member or Computer at a discrete moment in time) or by multiple Users.

AEM Communities Extension. AEM Communities Extension may only be added to an AEM Deployment where the AEM Communities add-on has been appropriately licensed. AEM Communities Extension must be licensed in an amount equal to the AEM Communities Publish Instances licensed by Customer. Customer can add up to 10,000 posts per month and a maximum storage capacity of 500 gigabytes for each licensed AEM Communities Extension.

AEM Mobile Standard Managed Services.

  • Licensing. An AEM Mobile Standard Managed Services Add-on Base Package may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed.
  • Applications. One Application may run on multiple platforms (e.g., iOS and Android) if the Application includes the same Customer Content. Customer may substitute a new Application for an inactive Application. An Application is only inactive if it stops receiving updates, has been completely decommissioned, and Customer has no plans to reactivate the Application in the future.

AEM Mobile Department Managed Services.

  • Licensing. An AEM Mobile Department Managed Services Add-on Base Package may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed.
  • Applications. One Application may run on multiple platforms (e.g., iOS and Android) if the Application includes the same Customer Content. Customer may substitute a new Application for an inactive Application. An Application is only inactive if it stops receiving updates, has been completely decommissioned, and Customer has no plans to reactivate the Application in the future.

AEM Mobile Enterprise Managed Services.

  • Licensing. An AEM Mobile Enterprise Managed Services Add-on Base Package may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed.
  • Applications. One Application may run on multiple platforms (e.g., iOS and Android) if the Application includes the same Customer Content. Customer may substitute a new Application for an inactive Application. An Application is only inactive if it stops receiving updates, has been completely decommissioned, and Customer has no plans to reactivate the Application in the future.

Page Views. Page Views may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed.

Generic Production Instance. Generic Production Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Sites Managed Services. 

Generic Non-production Instance. Generic Non-production Instances may only be added to the Pre-Production Phase of an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Sites Managed Services.

Managed Services Storage. Managed Services Storage may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed. Managed Services Storage is limited to (a) 100 terabytes for AEM Assets add-on to AEM Sites Managed Services, and (b) 5 terabytes for AEM Assets add-on to AEM Sites Managed Services Basic.

AEM Sites: Definitions

Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services means, for customers without a license to Adobe Analytics, use of the (i) Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile Distributed Code on any Application created by the AEM Mobile On-demand Services that meets the definition of a Customer Site, and (ii) reporting functionality available within AEM Mobile. Use of Adobe Analytics Essentials across AEM Managed Services and AEM Mobile On-demand Services is limited to 150 million Primary Server Calls per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms) Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Primary Server Calls per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Primary Server Calls per month spread across Customer’s Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments)).  No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, is included with Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

Customer Data collected by Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services is stored outside of AEM Mobile On-demand Services in its respective On-demand Services environment, although Customer Data may be replicated and stored within AEM Mobile to facilitate reporting within AEM Mobile. Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services are not provided under the Minimum Uptime Percentage of any other Managed Services/On-demand Services or their applicable infrastructure-related, backup, storage, encryption, or support obligations as set forth in the Agreement.

AEM Deployment means an independent Author Instance or linked cluster of Author Instances, with any number of connected Publish Instances.

AEM Mobile Department Managed Services Add-on Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Enterprise Managed Services Add-on Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Managed Services means 1 Author Instance, 1 Production Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance of AEM Mobile Managed Services added to 1 Author Instance, 1 Production Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance of AEM Sites Managed Services. AEM Mobile Managed Services does not include CDN services.

AEM Mobile On-demand Services means the multi-tenant service accessed through the AEM Mobile On-demand Services User Interface and the bundled Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Standard Managed Service Add-on Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Sites Base Package means 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, and an unlimited number of Dispatcher Instances.

AEM Sites Managed Services Base Package means one the following Minimum Uptime Percentage configurations, as identified in the applicable Sales Order:

  • 99.5% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes: 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance for the Production Phase.
  • 99.9% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes: 1 Author Instance, 2 Publish Instances, and 2 Dispatcher Instances for the Production Phase.
  • 99.95% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes:
    • 99.95% Minimum Uptime Percentage for 4 Publish Instances and 4 Dispatcher Instances for the Production Phase; and
    • 99.9% Minimum Uptime Percentage for 2 Author Instances for the Production Phase.
  • 99.99% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes:
    • 99.99% Minimum Uptime Percentage for 4 Publish Instances and 4 Dispatcher Instances for the Production Phase;
    • 99.9% Minimum Uptime Percentage for 2 Author Instances for the Production Phase; and
    • 99.0% Minimum Uptime Percentage for 2 Author Instances, 4 Publish Instances, and 4 Dispatcher Instances for the Pre-Production Phase.

AEM Sites Managed Services Basic Base Package means one of the two following configurations, each with a Minimum Uptime Percentage of 99.5%:

  • AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: Standard: Includes 10 Users, 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance for the Production Phase.  Customer is limited to a maximum of 1 million Page Views per month and 90 total hours of Customer Enablement Engineer time per year.
  • AEM Sites Managed Services Basic: High Redundancy: Includes 20 Users, 1 Author Instance, 2 Publish Instances, and 2 Dispatcher Instances.  Customer is limited to a maximum of 3 million Page Views per month and 90 total hours of Customer Enablement Engineer time per year.

Annual Page View Traffic means the sum of the Page Views during a 12 month period.

Application or App means:

(a)     for the AEM Mobile On-demand Services, a unique Customer-branded Authorized Viewer intended to display Customer Content to Customer’s users; and

(b)     for AEM Mobile On-premise Software and AEM Mobile Managed Services, application software designed to run on a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet computer.

Applications can be distributed (A) through an app store supported by AEM Mobile, (B) internally within Customer’s organization solely for the benefit of Customer; or (C), solely in the case of AEM Mobile On-demand Services, through a Web Viewer.

Asset Share Feature means the subset of AEM Assets functionality that facilitates the distribution of Customer’s digital assets stored within AEM Assets to internal and external groups via an “Asset Share Page” (i.e., a page used to search assets based on associated metadata).  Access to the Asset Share Page is not limited to Users.

Assignment means Customer’s ability to assign resources to Enablement Members where the consumption of resources is tracked, scored and reported.

Author Instance means the environment where Users can enter and manage the content of Customer’s website.

Authorized Viewer means a viewer application that is authorized by Adobe to display .folio files or .article files.  Authorized Viewer includes Adobe-branded viewer applications.

Brand Portal User means an individual who may use or access the Brand Portal user interface. Brand Portal Users licenses may not be used concurrently (i.e., the same login ID may not be used by more than one User or Computer at a discrete moment in time) or by multiple Users.

Dispatcher Instance means the environment for the caching or load balancing tool for a dynamic web authoring environment. For caching, the Dispatcher Instance works as part of an HTTP server that caches as much of the static website content as possible and accesses the website's layout engine as infrequently as possible. In a load-balancing role, the Dispatcher Instance distributes load across different clustered Instances.

Instance means:

(a)    for Managed Services deployments, one copy of AEM Sites Managed Services or AEM Sites Managed Services Basic running on one Computer; and

(b)    for On-premise Software deployments, one copy of the On-premise Software instantiated and running within a java virtual machine process on one physical Computer or virtual environment.

Each Instance can be designated as either an Author Instance or Publish Instance, but each will be counted separately as one Instance.

Media Library means the following functionalities available in AEM Assets for use at the individual digital asset level: storage of digital assets in support of Customer’s web content management system; managing metadata properties under the Properties Basic tab; accessing the Timeline features (including viewing Comments, managing asset Versions, starting Workflows and viewing Activities); adding comments via the Annotate icon; managing static Renditions; and Creative Cloud file sharing via the Share Link.

Pack means 1 million Page Views per month.

Page View means a single view of an email or web page of an internet site, including application screen views, application screen states, mobile web pages, and social network pages.  Page Views occur each time a web page is loaded or refreshed, an application is loaded, or when content renders or is shown through an opened or viewed email.

Primary Server Call means each page view, exit link, download, customer link, or other event on the Customer Site(s) to the extent that Customer tags, allows to be tagged, or causes to be tagged such page views, exit links, downloads, custom links, and other events for purposes of accessing and using Adobe Analytics Essentials for Sites. Each tagged page view, exit link, campaign container request, download, custom link, or other event will be counted as one Primary Server Call.

Publish Instance means the environment that makes content available to Customer’s intended audience.

Smart Content Services Base Package means access to Smart Content Services.

User has the meaning set forth in the General Terms, but also includes individuals who may access the Products and Services programmatically (such as through the use of an API) for any purpose.

Visual Configurator means real-time image rendering technology and framework to enable Customer online visual configuration solutions for personalization and customization effects, such as real-time rendering of colors, textures, surfaces, patterns, monograms, engravings into product images or scenes. Customer’s license of Visual Configurator includes 10 Instances of Scene7 Image Authoring.

Web Viewer means an internet browser-based version of the Application.

1:1 Templates means dynamically assembled and delivered 1:1 personalized rich media banners for targeted site visitors. 1:1 Templates is required for 1:1 highly targeted dynamic banners or 1:1 personalized emails where origin server requests exceed 30% of total requests for account.

What is Adobe Experience Manager Assets 6.3 ("AEM Assets")?

AEM Assets is a digital asset management tool that is integrated with the Adobe Experience Manager platform and enables Customer to share and distribute digital assets. Users can manage, store, and access images, videos, documents, audio clips, and rich media for use on the web, in print, and for digital distribution.

AEM Assets: Product limitations

1.  AEM Assets

Licensing. A separate AEM Assets Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets.  AEM Assets does not include licenses for Users, which must be licensed separately.

Asset Share Feature. Use of the Asset Share Feature requires a Publish Instance.  The AEM Sites functionality included for use with the Asset Share Feature can only be used to facilitate Customer’s use of the Asset Share Feature, including adding a maximum of 5 related pages to accompany an Asset Share Page (e.g., login page, help page, brand guidelines).

2.  AEM Assets Managed Services

Licensing. A separate AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services.  AEM Assets Managed Services does not include licenses for Users or CDN services, both of which must be licensed separately.

Asset Share Feature. Use of the Asset Share Feature requires a Publish Instance.  The AEM Sites functionality included for use with the Asset Share Feature can only be used to facilitate Customer’s use of the Asset Share Feature, including adding a maximum of 5 related pages to accompany an Asset Share Page (e.g., login page, help page, brand guidelines).

Embedded On-demand Services:

  • Adobe Analytics Essentials for Assets. For customers without a license to Adobe Analytics, AEM Assets Managed Services includes use of the Adobe Analytics Essentials for Assets Distributed Code on any Customer Site for the sole purpose of monitoring the usage of Customer Content managed within AEM Assets Managed Services and use of the reporting functionality available within AEM Assets Managed Services. Use of Adobe Analytics Essentials across AEM Managed Services and AEM Mobile On-demand Services is limited to 150 million Primary Server Calls per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms) Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Primary Server Calls per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Primary Server Calls per month spread across Customer’s Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments)). No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, is included with Adobe Analytics Essentials for Assets.
  • Customer Data. Adobe Analytics Essentials for Assets is an On-demand Service. Customer Data collected by this On-demand Service is stored outside of AEM Assets Managed Services in an On-demand Services environment, although Customer Data may be replicated and stored within AEM Assets Managed Services to facilitate reporting within AEM Assets Managed Services. This On-demand Service is not provided under the Minimum Uptime Percentage or any other Managed Services infrastructure-related, backup, storage, encryption, or support obligations set forth in the Agreement.

Included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 250 gigabytes per Author and Publish Instance.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 500 gigabytes per month per Author and Publish Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    •  Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of one terabyte per Author and Publish Instance.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 50 gigabytes per Author and Publish Instance.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 50 gigabytes per month per Author and Publish Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

3.  AEM Assets Managed Services Basic

Licensing. A separate AEM Assets Managed Services Basic Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic. AEM Assets Managed Services Basic does not include use of the Asset Share Feature.

Embedded On-demand Services:

  • Adobe Analytics Essentials for Assets.   • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 300 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 300 gigabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

AEM Assets Managed Services Basic: Tier 2, Included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 2.5 terabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 5 terabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of 7.5 terabytes.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 750 gigabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 750 gigabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

AEM Assets Managed Services Basic: Tier 3, Included Storage, Network I/O, and Backup:

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 5 terabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 10 terabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of 15 terabytes.
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Assets Managed Services Basic licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 1.5 terabytes.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 1.5 terabytes per month. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

4.  AEM Assets Add-ons

Additional Instances. Additional Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package or AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Assets or AEM Assets Managed Services.

Users. Additional User licenses may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package, AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package, or AEM Assets Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed. With regard to AEM Assets Managed Services Basic, Customer’s limit on concurrent Users will increase with each additional User licensed up to a maximum of 50 concurrent Users.

Commerce. Commerce Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package or AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed. Commerce Instances must be licensed in a quantity equal to the total number of Author and Publish Instances deployed as part of the AEM Deployment where the Commerce functionality, or any portion thereof, is being used or was previously activated (even if not continuously in use).

Generic Production Instance. Generic Production Instances may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Assets Managed Services.

Generic Non-production Instance. Generic Non-production Instances may only be added to the Pre-Production Phase of an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Assets Managed Services.

Managed Services Storage. Managed Services Storage may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed. Managed Services Storage is limited to 100 terabytes.

Dynamic Media and Video. Dynamic Media and Video may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package, AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package, or AEM Assets Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed. Use of dynamic banner templates is restricted to segmented use only, not 1:1 personalization.  Origin server requests for banners cannot exceed 30% of total requests for the account.  In the event origin requests exceed 30% of the total requests, Customer must purchase the Personalized Media add-on. Dynamic Media and Video is provided with 60 gigabytes of aggregate on-demand storage. Access to some of the features and functionality included in Dynamic Media and Video may be provided through alternate interfaces, which may be branded as Adobe Scene7 or Dynamic Media Classic. Adobe may, at its sole discretion, update the branding of the alternate interfaces and consolidate such features and functionality into a single access interface.

Personalized Media. Personalized Media may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package, AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package, or AEM Assets Managed Services Basic Base Package has been licensed. Personalized Media is provided with 60 gigabytes of aggregate on-demand storage. The Dynamic Media and Video functionality included with Personalized Media (when licensed separate from Dynamic Media and Video), can only be used to enable Customer’s use of the Visual Configurator and 1:1 Templates components of Personalized Media. Access to some of the features and functionality included in Personalized Media may be provided through alternate interfaces, which may be branded as Adobe Scene7 or Dynamic Media Classic. Adobe may, at its sole discretion, update the branding of the alternate interfaces and consolidate such features and functionality into a single access interface.

Image Authoring Workstation. Customer must not install Image Authoring Workstation on any server, shared, or hosted system that allows Image Authoring Workstation to be used or accessed by multiple Computers or used by multiple Users.

Brand Portal. Brand Portal may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package or AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed. Brand Portal is provided with 10 terabytes of aggregate On-demand Services-based storage per customer, regardless of the number of Brand Portal Users licensed. Each Brand Portal User logging onto the Brand Portal user interface during a 12-month period of the License Term is counted as one Brand Portal User.

Smart Content Services. Smart Content Services Base Package may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Assets Base Package or AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package has been licensed. Use of Smart Content Services is limited to up to 2 million tagged images per year. Duplicate images processed and tagged will each count as a tagged image.

AEM Assets: Definitions

AEM Assets Base Package means 1 Author Instance.

AEM Assets Managed Services Base Package means one the following Minimum Uptime Percentage configurations, as identified in the applicable Sales Order:

  • 99.5% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes 1 Author Instance and 1 Dispatcher Instance for the Production Phase.
  • 99.9% Minimum Uptime Percentage. Includes 2 Author Instances and 2 Dispatcher Instances for the Production Phase.

AEM Assets Managed Services Basic Base Package means one of the three following configurations, each with a Minimum Uptime Percentage of 99.5%:

  • AEM Assets Managed Services Basic: Tier 1: Includes up to 25 Users, 200 Brand Portal Users, and use of Smart Content Services to tag up to 1 million images per year. Customer is limited to (i) 90 total hours of Customer Enablement Engineer time per year, and (ii) 25 concurrent Users each with an individual User license.
  • AEM Assets Managed Services Basic: Tier 2: Includes 40 Users, 500 Brand Portal Users, and use of Smart Content Services to tag up to 2 million images per year. Customer is limited to (i) 90 total hours of Customer Enablement Engineer time per year, and (ii) 40 concurrent Users each with an individual User license.
  • AEM Assets Managed Services Basic: Tier 3: Includes 50 Users, 1,000 Brand Portal Users, and use of Smart Content Services to tag up to 5 million images per year. Customer is limited to (i) 90 total hours of Customer Enablement Engineer time per year, and (ii) 50 concurrent Users each with an individual User license.

AEM Deployment means an independent Author Instance or linked cluster of Author Instances, with any number of connected Publish Instances.

Annual Page View Traffic means the sum of the Page Views during a 12 month period.

Asset Share Feature means the subset of AEM Assets functionality that facilitates the distribution of Customer’s digital assets stored within AEM Assets to internal and external groups via an “Asset Share Page” (i.e., a page used to search assets based on associated metadata).  Access to the Asset Share Page is not limited to Users.

Author Instance means the environment where Users can enter and manage the content of Customer’s website.

Brand Portal means the Brand Portal On-demand Service. Brand Portal On-demand Services-based storage is counted as part of Customer’s total storage.

Brand Portal User means an individual who may use or access the Brand Portal user interface. Brand Portal Users licenses may not be used concurrently (i.e., the same login ID may not be used by more than one User or Computer at a discrete moment in time) or by multiple Users.

Dispatcher Instance means the environment for the caching or load balancing tool for a dynamic web authoring environment. For caching, the Dispatcher Instance works as part of an HTTP server that caches as much of the static website content as possible and accesses the website's layout engine as infrequently as possible. In a load-balancing role, the Dispatcher Instance distributes load across different clustered Instances.

Instance means:

(a)    for Managed Services deployments, one copy of AEM Assets Managed Services running on one Computer; and

(b)    for On-premise Software deployments, one copy of the On-premise Software instantiated and running within a java virtual machine process on one physical Computer or virtual environment.

AEM Forms is an enterprise document and form platform that enables Customer to capture and process information, deliver personalized communications, and protect and track information. AEM Forms extends business processes to a mobile workforce and clients by broadening service access to users equipped with a desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

AEM Forms: Product limitations

1.  AEM Forms

Licensing. Recipients may only complete and return forms using the electronic process in AEM Forms; Recipients, however, are not authorized to have direct access to AEM Forms. AEM Forms includes use of the Media Library functionalities of AEM Assets.

AEM Forms Portal.

  • The AEM Sites functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal (up to 2 Instances of AEM Sites) may only be used for the creation, management, administration and delivery of forms and Documents on a website, such as creation and customization of a web page associated with the search, display, retrieval and processing of forms and Documents, and for the authoring of emails that link back to Documents delivered on a website.  Customer may not use the AEM Sites functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal to publish web content or manage websites not related to forms processing or Document display.
  • The AEM Assets functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal may be used in the composition of forms, Documents and correspondence, and related AEM Forms Portal web pages, but may not be used for general asset storage and management.
  • If Customer combines an AEM Sites Instance and other AEM Forms capabilities on the same Computer then this combination will be counted as use of an AEM Sites Instance in addition to use of an AEM Forms Core(s).

Reader Extensions. For each Core licensed by Customer:

  • Customer may use Reader Extensions on up to 50 unique Documents and Deploy these Documents to an unlimited number of Recipients.
  • Customer may use Reader Extensions on an unlimited number of Documents when the Document has been rendered by the PDF Forms Rendering Engine immediately prior to its Deployment to a Recipient.  In this unlimited use scenario, the Reader Extended Document may not be posted to a website or otherwise Deployed to more than one Recipient without re-rendering the Document using the PDF Forms Rendering Engine.

Fonts.  For fonts identified as "Licensed for print and preview embedding" here: http://www.adobe.com/products/type/font-licensing/additional-license-rights.html, Customer may embed copies of the font software distributed to Customer for use with AEM Forms into Customer's Documents only for the purpose of printing and viewing Documents.

Adobe AEM Designer/Workbench. Copies of Adobe AEM Designer and Adobe AEM Workbench must only be used by Customer on desktop or laptop Computers for use in conjunction with AEM Forms.  Any such use will not be counted as an additional Core.

Digital Certificates. Any purchase, use, or reliance upon digital certificates issued by third-party certificate authorities in conjunction with Customer’s use of AEM Forms is done at Customer’s sole determination, risk, and responsibility.

Adobe Acrobat Professional. Any Adobe Acrobat Professional provided to Customer in conjunction with AEM Forms may only be installed on Computers where AEM Forms has been installed and may only be used indirectly to the extent that the AEM Forms PDF Generator is designed to access Adobe Acrobat Professional programmatically as described in the Documentation.

2.  AEM Forms Managed Services

Licensing. A separate AEM Forms Managed Services Base Package must be licensed for each AEM Deployment of AEM Forms Managed Services.  Recipients may only complete and return forms using the electronic process in AEM Forms Managed Services; Recipients, however, are not authorized to have direct access to AEM Forms Managed Services. AEM Forms Managed Services includes use of the Media Library functionalities of AEM Assets. AEM Forms Managed Services does not include CDN services, which must be licensed separately.

  • Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author, Publish, and Processing Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Forms Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 250 gigabytes per Author, Publish, and Processing Instance. 
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 500 gigabytes per month per Author, Publish, and Processing Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer may use a total combined backup space of one terabyte per Author, Publish, and Processing Instance. 
  • Pre-Production Phase AEM Deployment. The following total aggregate capacity across all Pre-Production Phase Author, Publish, and Processing Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Forms Managed Services licensed:
    • Storage: Customer may use a total combined storage at any one time, for all active data, of 50 gigabytes per Author, Publish, and Processing Instance.
    • Network I/O: Customer may use a total combined input and output traffic, to and from the given cloud region, of 50 gigabytes per month per Author, Publish, and Processing Instance. There is no limit on the transmission of information that does not depart the regional cloud and is instead terminated at another server on the cloud.
    • Backup: Customer will not receive backup space for non-production deployments.

AEM Forms Portal

  • The AEM Sites functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal may only be used for the creation, management, administration and delivery of forms and Documents on a website, such as creation and customization of a web page associated with the search, display, retrieval and processing of forms and Documents, and for the authoring of emails that link back to Documents delivered on a website.  Customer may not use the AEM Sites functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal to publish web content or manage websites not related to forms processing or Document display.
  • The AEM Assets functionality included as part of AEM Forms Portal may be used in the composition of forms, Documents and correspondence, and related AEM Forms Portal web pages, but may not be used for general asset storage and management.

Reader Extensions. For each AEM Forms Managed Services Base Package licensed by Customer:

  • Customer may use Reader Extensions on up to 100 unique Documents and Deploy these Documents to an unlimited number of Recipients.
  • Customer may use Reader Extensions on an unlimited number of Documents when the Document has been rendered by the PDF Forms Rendering Engine immediately prior to its Deployment to a Recipient.  In this unlimited use scenario, the Reader Extended Document may not be posted to a website or otherwise Deployed to more than one Recipient without re-rendering the Document using the PDF Forms Rendering Engine.

Fonts.  For fonts identified as "Licensed for print and preview embedding" here: http://www.adobe.com/products/type/font-licensing/additional-license-rights.html, Customer may embed copies of the font software distributed to Customer for use with AEM Forms into Customer’s Documents only for the purpose of printing and viewing Documents.

Adobe AEM Designer/Workbench.  Copies of Adobe AEM Designer and Adobe AEM Workbench must only be used by Customer on desktop or laptop Computers for use in conjunction with AEM Forms Managed Services.  Any such use will not be counted as an additional Instance.

Digital Certificates. Any purchase, use, or reliance upon digital certificates issued by third-party certificate authorities in conjunction with Customer’s use of AEM Forms Managed Services is done at Customer’s sole determination, risk, and responsibility.

Adobe Acrobat Professional. Any Adobe Acrobat Professional provided to Customer in conjunction with AEM Forms Managed Services may only be installed on Computers where or AEM Forms Managed Services has been installed and may only be used indirectly to the extent that the AEM Forms PDF Generator is designed to access Adobe Acrobat Professional programmatically as described in the Documentation.

Embedded On-demand Services:

  • Adobe Analytics Essentials for Forms. For customers without a license to Adobe Analytics, AEM Forms Managed Services includes use of the Adobe Analytics Essentials for Forms Distributed Code on any adaptive forms or documents (i.e., HTML renditions for capturing or displaying data that responds to the layout of the device and automatically serves up relevant sections of the form/document as needed) created and maintained by AEM Forms Managed Services that meet the definition of Customer Sites and use of the reporting functionality available within AEM Forms Managed Services. Use of Adobe Analytics Essentials across AEM Managed Services and AEM Mobile On-demand Services is limited to 150 million Primary Server Calls per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms) Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Primary Server Calls per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Primary Server Calls per month spread across Customer’s Sites, Assets, AEM Mobile On-demand Services and Forms Adobe Analytics Essentials deployments)). No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, is included with Adobe Analytics Essentials for Forms.
  • Adobe Experience Targeting. For customers without a license to Adobe Target, AEM Forms Managed Services includes use of the Adobe Experience Targeting Distributed Code on any adaptive forms or documents (i.e., HTML renditions for capturing or displaying data that responds to the layout of the device and automatically serves up relevant sections of the form/document as needed) created and maintained by AEM Forms Managed Services that meet the definition of a Customer Site and the Adobe Experience Targeting rules-based targeting functionality available within AEM Sites Managed Services, for up to 150 million Page Views per month (i.e., if Customer has multiple Adobe Experience Targeting deployments across AEM (e.g., Sites and Forms) Customer is limited to a cumulative 150 million Page Views per month across all such deployments (e.g., 150 million Page Views per month spread across Customer’s Sites and Forms Adobe Experience Targeting deployments)). No access to the Adobe Marketing Cloud user interface, or use of any associated functionality, and no A/B testing functionality is included with Adobe Experience Targeting.
  • Customer Data. Adobe Analytics Essentials for Forms and Adobe Experience Targeting are On-demand Services. Customer Data collected by these On-demand Services is stored outside of AEM Sites Managed Services in their respective On-demand Services environments, although Customer Data may be replicated and stored within AEM Forms Managed Services to facilitate reporting within AEM Forms Managed Services. These On-demand Services are not provided under the Minimum Uptime Percentage or any other Managed Services infrastructure-related, backup, storage, encryption, or support obligations set forth in the Agreement.

3.  AEM Forms: Add-ons

AEM Forms Document Security. Each Recipient is licensed for a single AEM Deployment. Customer must not disable or interfere with electronic notices or dialogue boxes concerning privacy or tracking that appear in the software used for viewing electronic files that have been processed by AEM Forms Document Security.

Additional vCPU. Additional vCPU’s may only be added to an AEM Deployment where an AEM Forms Managed Services Base Package has been licensed, and may not be used independently to perform any features or functions of AEM Forms.

AEM Forms: Definitions

AEM Deployment means an independent Author Instance or linked cluster of Author Instances, with any number of connected Publish Instances.

AEM Forms Managed Services Base Package means a Minimum Uptime Percentage of 99.5% and includes 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, 1 Processing Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance for the Production Phase.

AEM Forms Portal means an AEM Forms and AEM Forms Managed Services module that allows for limited access to AEM Sites and AEM Assets functionality for use in conjunction with AEM Forms and AEM Forms Managed Services.  A reasonable number of User licenses are included with AEM Forms Portal, but any such Users are only authorized to use the AEM Sites and AEM Assets subject to the limits of AEM Forms Portal and are not authorized to access the full functionality of AEM Sites and AEM Assets.

Author Instance means the environment where Users can enter and manage the content of Customer’s website.

Core means a basic computation unit of a central processing unit (CPU) capable of functioning independently to perform computational tasks that do not involve interacting with components outside the CPU. A CPU may contain one or more Cores.

(a)    All Cores on a Computer on which any part of the AEM Forms On-premise Software is installed are deemed to operate the AEM Forms On-premise Software unless Customer configures that Computer (using a reliable and verifiable means of hardware or software partitioning) such that the total number of Cores that actually operate the AEM Forms On-premise Software is less than the total number on that Computer.

(b)    Installations of AEM Forms where functionality is split across two Cores count as two or more Cores of AEM Forms.

(c)    Cores on a Computer which is only used to author or develop applications and do not perform any runtime processing are excluded from the number of Cores Customer is required to license.

Deploy means to deliver or otherwise make available, directly or indirectly, by any means, a Document to one or more persons or entities including Recipients. A Document that has been Deployed will be deemed to remain Deployed until it is no longer available for distribution.

Dispatcher Instance means the environment for the caching or load balancing tool for a dynamic web authoring environment. For caching, the Dispatcher Instance works as part of an HTTP server that caches as much of the static website content as possible and accesses the website's layout engine as infrequently as possible. In a load-balancing role, the Dispatcher Instance distributes load across different clustered Instances.

Document means an electronic or printed file that is processed or generated by AEM Forms, including Documents that contain data fields where data may be entered and saved.  A Document will be deemed “unique” unless it is an identical copy of a Deployed Document, is a direct language translation of a Deployed Document, differs from other Deployed Documents only with respect to correction of typographical errors, or contains pre-Deployment customizations of information about Recipients (e.g. name, address, account number, etc.) and similar differences that do not alter the fundamental business purpose of the Document.

Instance means:

(a)    for Managed Services deployments, one copy of AEM Forms Managed Services running on one Computer; and

(b)    for On-premise Software deployments, one copy of the On-premise Software instantiated and running within a java virtual machine process on one physical Computer or virtual environment.

Each Instance can be designated as either an Author Instance or Publish Instance, but each will be counted separately as one Instance.

Media Library means the following functionalities available in AEM Assets for use at the individual digital asset level: storage of digital assets in support of Customer’s web content management system; managing metadata properties under the Properties Basic tab; accessing the Timeline features (including viewing Comments, managing asset Versions, starting Workflows and viewing Activities); adding comments via the Annotate icon; managing static Renditions; and Creative Cloud file sharing via the Share Link.

PDF Forms Rendering Engine means the server-based component of AEM Forms that dynamically renders and Deploys a PDF form for filling, saving and submission.

Processing Instance means the environment where run-time processing operations, which do not occur on the Publish Instance, are conducted.

Reader Extensions means an AEM Forms and AEM Forms Managed Services module that, when used on Documents, enables Customer to activate additional Reader Features in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Reader Features means:

(a)    certain technology embedded into PDF files by Adobe Forms that enables features in Adobe Acrobat Reader software that would not otherwise be available (e.g., the ability to save documents locally or add annotations); and

(b)    metadata (stored on a Computer and/or embedded in an electronic file of a supported file format) that contains or refers to access and usage rights designed to be enforced by Adobe Forms Rights Management directly or through supported software applications.

Publish Instance means the environment that makes content available to Customer’s intended audience.

Recipient means a person to whom Customer directly or indirectly Deploys Documents. Recipient licenses may not be shared or used by more than one individual Recipient but may be reassigned:

(a)    when new Recipients replace former Recipients who have terminated their engagement with Customer; or

(b)    upon written permission from Adobe.

User has the meaning set forth in the General Terms, but also includes individuals who may access the Products and Services programmatically (such as through the use of an API) for any purpose.

Generic Non-production Instance. AEM Deployment means an independent Author Instance or linked cluster of Author Instances, with any number of connected Publish Instances.

AEM Mobile Department Base Package means the AEM Mobile On-premise Software and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Department Managed Services Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Enterprise Base Package means the AEM Mobile On-premise Software and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Enterprise Managed Services Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Managed Services means a Minimum Uptime Percentage of 99.5% and includes 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, and 1 Dispatcher Instance for the Production Phase, and Storage, Network I/O, and Backup. AEM Mobile Managed Services does not include CDN services.

AEM Mobile On-demand Services means the multi-tenant service accessed through the AEM Mobile On-demand Services User Interface and the bundled Adobe Analytics Essentials for AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile On-premise Software means 1 Author Instance, 1 Publish Instance, and an unlimited number of Dispatcher Instances.

AEM Mobile Single Use Base Package means the AEM Mobile On-premise Software and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Standard Base Package means the AEM Mobile On-premise Software and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services.

AEM Mobile Standard Managed Services Base Package means the AEM Mobile Managed Services and the AEM Mobile On-demand Services. 

Application or App means:

(a)    for the AEM Mobile On-demand Services, a unique Customer-branded Authorized Viewer intended to display Customer Content to Customer’s users; and

(b)    for AEM Mobile On-Premise Software and AEM Mobile Managed Services, application software designed to run on a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet computer.

Applications can be distributed (A) through an app store supported by AEM Mobile, (B) internally within Customer’s organization solely for the benefit of Customer; or (C), solely in the case of AEM Mobile On-demand Services, through a Web Viewer.

Author Instance means the environment where Users can enter and manage the content of Customer’s website.

Authorized Viewer means a viewer application that is authorized by Adobe to display .folio files or .article files.  Authorized Viewer includes Adobe-branded viewer applications.

Dispatcher Instance means the environment for the caching or load balancing tool for a dynamic web authoring environment. Each tagged page view, exit link, campaign container request, download, custom link, or other event will be counted as one Primary Server Call.

Publish Instance means the environment that makes content available to Customer’s intended audience.

Storage, Network I/O, and Backup means:

(a)    for Production Phase AEM Deployment, the following total aggregate capacity across all Production Phase Author and Publish Instances is included for each AEM Deployment of AEM Mobile Managed Services licensed:

Livefyre Definitions

Business Activation means 1 Activation and up to 2.5 million Page Views per month.

Enterprise Activation means 1 Activation and up to 200 million Page Views per month.

Livefyre Base Package means access to the Livefyre user interface and the ability to import and review Third Party Materials and up to 1 million Third Party Material Mentions per month.

Maximum Activation means 1 Activation and up to 2 billion Page Views per month.

Page View means a single view of an email or web page of an internet site, including application screen views, application screen states, mobile web pages, and social network pages. Page Views occur each time a web page, digital billboard, or in-store display is loaded or refreshed, an application is loaded, or when content renders or is shown through an opened or viewed email.

Premier Activation means 1 Activation and up to 20 million Page Views per month.

Standard Activation means 1 Activation and up to 250 thousand Page Views per month.

Third Party Material Mentions means each instance that a piece of Third Party Material is collected by Livefyre based on Customer’s search parameters, from a third party provider selected by Customer, in the Livefyre user interface.
 

What is Dynamic Media Classic, Part of Adobe Experience Manager?

Dynamic Media Classic is a platform that enables Customers to manage, enhance, publish, and deliver dynamic rich media content and personal experiences to consumers across all channels and devices, including web, print material, email campaigns, desktops, social, and mobile.

Dynamic Media Classic: Product limitations

1.  Dynamic Media Classic

Licensing. A Dynamic Media Classic license includes up to 10 accounts set-up for use on Customer Sites, 60 gigabytes of aggregate storage space, 10 Media Portal seats, and unlimited Users for use only with Dynamic Media Classic.

Dynamic Banners Feature. Use of Dynamic Banner templates is restricted to segmented use only, not 1:1 personalization. Origin server requests for banners cannot exceed 30% of total requests for the account. In the event origin requests exceed 30% of the total requests, Customer must purchase the 1:1 Templating Add-on.

2.  Dynamic Media Classic Add-ons

Visual Configurator. Visual Configurator may only be added where Dynamic Media Classic has been licensed. Customer’s license of Visual Configurator includes 10 licenses to Image Authoring Workstation.

1:1 Templates. 1:1 Templates may only be added where Dynamic Media Classic has been licensed. 1:1 Templates is required for 1:1 highly targeted Dynamic Banners when origin server requests exceed 30% of total requests for an account.

Image Authoring Workstation. Image Authoring Workstation may only be added where Dynamic Media Classic has been licensed. Customer must not install Image Authoring Workstation on any server, shared, or hosted system that allows Image Authoring Workstation to be used or accessed by multiple Computers or used by multiple Users.

Media Portal Seat Package. A Media Portal Seat Package may only be added where Dynamic Media Classic has been licensed.

Dynamic Media Classic Definitions

Dynamic Banner means dynamically assembled rich media templates.

Media Portal Seat Package means user access to a self-serving asset portal that provides users with administrator-controlled “views” into Dynamic Media Classic assets for easy access to upload, browse, search, preview and export assets.

Visit means a site visitor’s activity on Customer Sites. A single Visit may consist of multiple page views of Customer Sites and is measured as either until the expiration of 30 minutes of the visitor’s inactivity on Customer Sites or 12 hours of continuous activity by the visitor on Customer Sites, after which a new Visit begins and will be counted.

VPM means Visits per Month and is calculated as the total number of Visits during each calendar month beginning on the first of the month following the License Term Start Date, as measured using Adobe Analytics, Customer’s server logs, or a third-party site traffic monitoring or analytics service.
