You can add impact to your video projects with creative color adjustments.
What is color correction?
Color correction is a broad term that describes the adjustments you make to the colors and brightness of your visuals. This might mean a simple increase in color intensity or a subtle and atmospheric mood change applied to particular areas of a shot.
Discover the Lumetri Color panel
The Premiere Pro Lumetri Color panel offers several types of color adjustments. There are automatic color adjustment options to correct or match colors between shots, and precise controls for creative color-finishing effects.
Match clip colors
One of the first steps to take when you work with color is to make sure that all of your visuals look like they were shot at the same time, on the same day, with the same lighting and camera setup.
Correct your white balance
Audiences will quickly notice when your shots have an unwanted color tint. Start by restoring the image to natural-looking colors. You can use the controls in the Lumetri Color panel to automatically fix color balance.
Match clips with different color balance
It’s noticeable when colors in a scene change from one shot to the next. If you’re shooting with multiple cameras, matching colors can make a big difference in crafting a professional look for your content. Use the Color Match option in the Lumetri Color panel to automatically match shots.
Perform basic corrections
You can add punch to your visuals by dragging the Temperature, Tint, Exposure, Contrast, and other sliders in the Lumetri Color panel. For maximum impact, try increasing the Saturation or Vibrance to stand out on social media.
Give footage a creative look
Correcting the colors in your shots is just half the journey. Next, you’ll add a unique look and atmosphere to your project. It’s common for a channel or series to have a recognizable look so followers can instantly identify new content you have shared.
Add a Look preset with a click
Turn your everyday footage into a powerful movie moment. Multiple filmic presets are available in the Look menu, located in the Lumetri Color panel’s Creative section. Browse through dozens of previews, and if you find one you like, simply click on it to apply it to your shot.
Make dramatic color adjustments for visual impact
Sometimes subtlety doesn’t get the message across — there are no rules when it comes to creative color work. The main thing is to be consistent, so pick some impactful changes and try them on all your shots to be sure they work for the whole project. These kinds of adjustments can turn less-exciting footage into a vivid visual experience.
