Solutions

Follow the solutions in sequence until the issue is fixed:

1. Check file permissions

Ensure that both these files have read/write access by following the steps given below:

  • C:\Windows\System32\msvcp140.dll
  • C:\Windows\System32\vcruntime140.dl
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32.

  2. Search for msvcp140.dll, right-click it, and select Properties.

  3. Select the Security tab and click Edit.

  4. Click Add, type ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES and click Check Names.

  5. Click Locations, select the name of your computer, and click OK. Click Ok again.

  6. Select ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES. Check Allow next to both Read & execute and Read.

  7. Click Apply and OK. Click Ok again.

  8. Follow the steps 2 - 7 for vcruntime140.dll.

  9. Launch XD.

2. Update display drivers

  1. Type Device Manager in Windows Search and press Enter.

  2. Expand Display adapters. Right-click each adapter and select Disable device.

  3. Restart the computer.

  4. Type Device manager in Windows Search and press Enter.

  5. Expand Display adapters and:

    1. Right-click each adapter and select Enable device.
    2. Right-click each adapter and select Update driver.
  6. Restart the computer and launch XD.

3. Perform a clean reinstall of XD

  1. Type %temp% in Windows Search and press Enter.

  2. Delete all the files in the Temp folder.

  1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  2. In the Apps tab, under Installed, scroll down and locate XD.

  3. Click the three dots next to XD and select Uninstall.

    Click Uninstall next to XD.

  1. Close all Adobe applications.

  2. Type Task Manager in Windows Search and press Enter.

  3. Click the Details tab.

    Click the Details tab on Task Manager.
  4. End the Creative Cloud processes in the order given below:

    Right-click each Adobe process and select End task.

    1. Creative Cloud.exe
    5. AdobeUpdateService.exe
    9. AdobeIPCBroker.exe
    2. Adobe Desktop Service.exe
    6. CCLibrary.exe
    10. AdobeNotificationClient.exe
    3. Adobe CEF Helper.exe
    7. CCXProcess.exe
    11. Creative Cloud Helper.exe
    4. Adobe Installer.exe
    8. CoreSync.exe

    Right click each Adobe process to end it.

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe.

  2. Delete the Adobe XD folder.

  1. Type appwiz.cpl in Windows Search and press Enter.

  2. Uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++Redistributable packages.

    Uninstall all Visual C++ packages.

  1. Restart the computer.

  2. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. In the Apps tab, scroll down to Available in your subscription and install XD.

    Click Install next to XD.
  4. Launch XD.
