New Transform Warp options

With this release, you get more flexibility when using Transform Warp and achieve transformations inside a split warp grid that wasn’t possible earlier. If you are a Packaging Designer, you can now easily isolate and move any control handle to fit your artwork onto a product. Use the Control (Win) / Command (Mac) modifier key to quickly toggle through the split warp options without returning to the menu bar.

Also, you can independently move the control handles (also called 'Bezier' handles) attached to anchor points while applying a Split Warp for transformation using a keyboard shortcut.

Currently, the two Bezier handle movement options are:

  • Unison: all handles move together when one is moved
  • Independent: each handle moves without impacting the other handles related to the anchor point.

Use Opt/Alt + Click on the anchor points while working with Transform Warp to toggle between the unison and independent movements. You can also Ctrl/Right-click on the anchor point and choose “Convert Warp Anchor Point” from the context menu.

Easily toggle the state of Bezier handle movement

This feature is even better when combined with the new color and opacity customization for warp guidelines that were shipped earlier this year. Now you can adjust them so they are easier to see against the color of your image. You can tailor other settings such as when and how many warp guides to display. This capability is located in the Options bar when Transform Warp is enabled. Also, the default behavior of the warp guide display is now set to Always Show Guides and the Density option is set to 2.

Discontinued 3D features

For technical reasons, Photoshop’s 3D feature set will not reliably work in modern operating systems, and as of Photoshop 22.5, we are beginning the process of removing those features.

To learn more, see Photoshop 3D | Common questions around discontinued 3D features.

Legacy 'Export As'

With this release, the export of Photoshop documents as SVG is no longer supported in Photoshop using the Export As option. The 'Export As SVG' feature is being discontinued due to low usage and known limitations.

If you still want to export your Photoshop document as SVG, you can follow any of these workarounds:

  • Navigate to Preferences > Export and enable Use Legacy "Export As". Quit and relaunch Photoshop.
  • Open your PSD in Adobe XD or Illustrator and use their export as SVG functionality.
