End of service for Adobe PhoneGap

Adobe is discontinuing PhoneGap, PhoneGap Build, and ending investment in Apache Cordova.

We will maintain PhoneGap until August 1, 2018 and PhoneGap Build until November 1, 2018. Contribution to the Apache Cordova project to support PhoneGap Build until development stops on November 1, 2018.

Adobe is directing engineering resources to expand the Adobe I/O platform to enable developers to extend, customize, and integrate with Adobe products and technologies through tools and open APIs. The core of the PhoneGap team is Open Source and Open Development and our goal is to expand that across all Adobe developer offerings.

Team members will be working on Adobe I/O developer tools and APIs, including Adobe I/O Runtime which is based on the open source project Apache OpenWhisk.

Development on PhoneGap has concluded and a shutdown of the PhoneGap Build service will be effective October 1, 2020.  

Releases will be limited to critical fixes and changes.

The project (mobile app content) created by PhoneGap is backwards compatible with Apache Cordova. An instruction document on migrating from PhoneGap to Cordova will be provided as well as a list of other alternatives.

PhoneGap will remain free and open sourced, however it will not be actively developed. Gradually, as iOS and Android operating system updates are released, the PhoneGap tooling will become incompatible with the latest version of Apache Cordova. Additionally, hosted services such as the PhoneGap Push test service will be removed after a deprecation timeframe. We recommend migrating to Apache Cordova to stay up-to-date on the latest releases.

PhoneGap Build, however, is not an open sourced project so this offering will be unavailable starting on October 1, 2020.

The service will be shut down and all stored files will be deleted. All data must be retrieved by September 30, 2020.

A migration instruction document will be provided to help PhoneGap users move to Cordova as well as a list of other alternatives.
