Camera Raw 8.4 and DNG Converter 8.4 and later no longer support Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, or Windows Vista. If you use DNG Converter 8.4 on these systems, the installer indicates that Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.7 or later is required.
Note: Cameras that have been or will be released after Camera Raw and DNG Converter 8.3 aren't supported under Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.
The following list of applications is compatible with Mac OS 10.6, Windows XP, and Vista. They are also compatible with Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 and later when installed on more up-to-date operating systems. If you run automatic updates on an older OS with these products, you can install an incompatible version of the Camera Raw plug-in.

If you installed Camera Raw 8.4 or later, remove the plug-in and follow the instructions below to reinstall Camera Raw 8.3. If you installed DNG Converter 8.4 or later, you can reinstall DNG Converter 8.3 over the later version.
- Right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Mac OS) the appropriate file below.
- Choose to download the file.
- After the file is downloaded, locate it in your Downloads folder, or the folder you indicated during download.
Download
- Quit Photoshop CS6, Photoshop Elements 12, and any of the listed Adobe applications.
- Locate and double-click the downloaded file to decompress it. The resulting file is Camera Raw.plugin.
- Navigate to the Macintosh HD folder.
- Open the folder
- Elements 12: Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/Elements 12/File Formats
- CS6 applications: Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS6/File Formats
- IMPORTANT: Navigate to the System Library folder, not the Library folder under your user folder.
- Move the Camera Raw.plugin file in the File Formats folder into the Trash or onto the Desktop.
- Copy the Camera Raw.plugin from step 2 into the File Formats folder.
- IMPORTANT: Do not copy the new Camera Raw plug-in into File Formats folder without removing the previous version. Camera Raw does not work properly with more than one plug-in in that folder.
- Launch Photoshop CS6, Photoshop Elements 12, or any of the listed Adobe applications.
Download
- Close Photoshop CS6, Photoshop Elements 12, and any of the listed applications.
- Locate and double-click the downloaded file to decompress it. The resulting file is Camera Raw.8bi.
- Open My Computer, and then double-click Local Disk (C:).
- Navigate to the folder
- Elements 12: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats
- CS6 applications: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
- Move the Camera Raw.8bi file already in the File Formats folder into the Trash or onto the Desktop.
- Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download location in step 2 into the same File Formats folder.
- IMPORTANT: Do not copy the new Camera Raw plug-in into File Formats folder without removing the previous version. Camera Raw does not work properly with more than one plug-in in that folder.
- Launch Photoshop CS6, Photoshop Elements 12, or any of the listed applications.
