Give your artwork a realistic rubber stamp look.
What you'll need
Now try it yourself
1. Open stamp-effect_start.ai from the practice files or use your own.
2. Choose the Selection tool and drag a rectangle around the graphic and text to select the whole artwork.
Apply an Inner Glow effect 3. Choose from the Effect menu, Stylize – Inner Glow.
Tip: Make sure you choose the Stylize option from the Illustrator Effects section and not from the Photoshop Effects section below. |
4. Set Mode to Normal and the color to black. Set Opacity to 100% and Blur to 3px. Make sure Edge is selected and check Preview, then click OK.
Add texture to the drawing 5. Choose Effect – Pixelate – Mezzotint. |
6. From the Type dropdown menu select Grainy Dots. Click OK.
Apply a Stamp effect
7. Choose Effect – Sketch – Stamp.
8. Set the Light/Dark Balance to 1 and Smoothness to 6. Click OK.
Turn the artwork back into a vector
9. Choose Object – Expand Appearance.
10. From the Window menu choose Image Trace.
11. Set Paths to 100%, Noise to 1px, uncheck Snap Curves to Lines, check Ignore Whites, and check Preview.
Tip: Click the triangle to expand the Advanced options in the Image Trace panel.
Prepare the artwork
12. Choose Object – Expand.
13. Leave Object selected and uncheck Fill. Click OK.
