Troubleshoot issues related to Windows App Store version of Photoshop Elements and Elements Organizer on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Windows 10 S.

Issues on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Windows App Store version of Photoshop Elements crashes with blue screen on Windows 10 Fall Creators update (version 1709) if AVG or Avast antivirus is installed on your system.


Update your antivirus definition to the virus definition released after January 11, 2018.

  1. Open the user interface of your antivirus (Avast or AVG).

  2. Select SettingsUpdate.

  3. Click Update under Virus Definition section and update the virus definition.

  4. Launch Photoshop Elements.

Issues on Windows 10 S

If your hardware device such as printers, scanners, or Wacom tablet is not compatible with Windows 10 S, you may face the following issues:  

  • Printer, scanner, or Wacom tablet is not detected.
  • All options of the hardware are not visible in Elements Organizer and Photoshop Elements.


Verify if your device (that requires specific device drivers) is compatible with Windows 10 S from Windows 10 S Accessory Compatibility.

Video playback in Elements Organizer is jerky.


If your display driver is not updated or corrupt, the video playback gets jerky in Elements Organizer.

Update your display driver from Windows App Store or from your device manufacturer website to resolve this issue.

Cannot install third-party plug-in for Photoshop Elements.


Windows 10 S does not allow installation of third-party plug-in. If you want to use third-party plug-ins, upgrade to Windows 10.

Photoshop Elements 15 crashes on launch after installing it from Windows App Store on a Windows 10 S system.


  1. Navigate to the ProgramData folder in your installation directory. For example, if your installation directory is C then navigate to C:\ProgramData.


    If you can't find the location, probably the ProgramData folder is hidden on your computer. To show hidden files and folders, see Show hidden files.

  2. Create a folder and name it Adobe.

  3. Create a folder inside Adobe and name it Elements Organizer.

  4. Create a folder inside Elements Organizer and name it 15.0

    The folder structure should be C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\15.0

  5. Launch Photoshop Elements 15.
