Add depth and drama to landscapes by making parts of the scenery move in different ways.

Now try it yourself

1. Download the practice files and open "2.5D-animation.prproj" in Premiere Pro. Make sure that Editing workspace is selected from the top menu.

Tip: You can change workspace layout at any time or save your own workspace by clicking on Window > Workspaces > Save as New Workspace…

2. Drag the Foreground image from the Project panel to the V2 track on the timeline.

Animate the foreground

3. Drag the playhead to the beginning of the timeline and select the Foreground layer.

4. Then go to the Effects Controls panel. Click on the drop-down arrow next to fx Motion. Set the second Position value to 862.5. Click the stopwatch icon next to Scale and set the value to 100 so the image starts at full size.

5. Drag the playhead to the end of the timeline and set the Scale to 106. Press Enter and Premiere Pro creates automatically the next keyframe.

6. Scrub the playhead back and forth to see how the foreground image appears to grow and shrink.

Animate the background

7. Select the Landscape layer and move the playhead to the beginning of the timeline.

8. Go to the Effects Controls panel, click the stopwatch icon next to Scale to add a keyframe and set the Scale to 100.
