CQ5.2.1 to CQ5.3 Upgrade: Out of memory exceptions during upgrade

Issue

When we try to upgrade from CQ5.2.1 to CQ5.3, the upgrade fails with OutOfMemory exceptions in the crx-quickstart/logs/error.log file.

Resolution

The process that upgrades workflow content from the 5.2.1 to 5.3 structure requires a large amount of heap memory.

Increase your heap memory configuration allocated to the jvm. You can do this by adding a jvm parameter -Xmx2048M.
