McAfee Enterprise virus scanner causes CQ5 failure in startup

Symptoms

When installing CQ5.2 on a Windows XP machine with McAfee Enterprise virus scanner 8.X installed then CQ5.2 will not start up. The only indication of this error is that the stderr.log shows that the server never comes up.

Resolution

Uninstall McAfee Enterprise virus scanner from the system.
