To change color depth and resolution in Windows 7 and Windows Vista:

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
  2. In the Appearance and Personalization section, click Adjust Screen Resolution.
  3. Change the color depth using the Colors menu.

    Note: Color depth is no longer an option that can be changed in Windows 7.
  4. Change the resolution using the Resolution slider.
  5. Click Ok to apply the changes.
