Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32.

Double-click the codec that you want to disable.
Note: Video codec listings usually start with vidc; audio codec listings usually end with an .acm extension.

In the Edit String dialog box, add a semicolon (;) to the beginning of the value in the Value Data box to disable the entry. For example:
;iyuv_32.dll

Click OK.

Close the Registry Editor window.
To re-enable a video or audio codec:

Choose Start, type regedit in the Search text box, and press Enter to start the Windows Registry Editor.

Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32.

Double-click the codec that you disabled, and remove the semicolon from the beginning of the value in the Value Data box.

Click OK.
