Error "Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory could not be written" installing Flex Builder 3
On a Mac OS X system with non-administrator rights, Adobe Flex Builder can be installed correctly. However, if you enter a valid serial number, you may see a message indicating that "Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory could not be written." Restarting Flex Builder prompts for the serial number again and the previously entered number is not saved.
Solution
To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
-
Install Flex Builder and enter the serial number using an account that has administrator privileges.
-
If you do not have access to an account with administrator privileges, then you can manually create the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory before installing Flex Builder.
Additional information
Flex Builder 3 doesn't require administrator rights to install and run on Mac. However, it does require administrator rights to write the license.properties file, which resides in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flex directory.
