Issue
When you launch Adobe Reader 9, X, or XI, you receive the following error message:
“Acrobat Failed to Load core DLL."
Solutions
Repair the existing Reader installation.
Windows 7
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel, and then select Programs and Features.
- Select Adobe Reader and click Change.
- Choose the option to repair the Adobe Reader installation.
Scan your system for malware or rootkit.
Disclaimer: In initial testing, Adobe found that TDSSKiller from Kaspersky removes the rootkit responsible for this issue. Adobe recommends that you contact your antivirus technical support team if you require additional assistance.

Click Run to start the installation.

In the TDSSKiller tool dialog box, click Start Scan.

Wait for the scan to finish and detect any trojan software on the computer.

Select Cure from the pop-up menu, and then click Continue.

Click Reboot Computer.
Uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader.
Windows 7
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel, and then select Programs and Features.
- Select Adobe Reader, and then click Remove.
- Choose the option to remove the Adobe Reader installation.
Reinstall Adobe Reader after downloading it from Adobe.com.
Note: If you have difficulty removing Adobe Reader versions 9.x or 10.x, use the Adobe Reader cleaner tool from Adobe Labs.
