Issue

When you attempt to install updates to the InDesign plug-in and extensions collectively called the Folio Producer tools, an error occurs. Or, when you use one of the components, some unexpected behavior occurs. For examples, there are endlessly updating articles in the Folio Builder panel, or server login failures. In most of these cases, a clean reinstallation of the tools resolves the failures.

Solution

InDesign CS5

  1. Run the uninstaller for the last Folio Builder Only or Folio Producer Tools update you installed using the Programs and Features control panel (Windows) or the Uninstallers in /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ (Mac).
  2. Repeat for any remaining Folio Builder Only or Folio Producer Tools that appear in the list of programs (Windows) or have an Uninstaller (Mac).
  3. Remove the file Digital "Publishing.InDesignPlugin" and the folder "(Digital Publishing Resources)" (Windows only) from this path:

    Mac: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5/Plug-Ins/Graphics

    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5\Plug-Ins\Graphics
  4. Remove the folders "FolioBuilderBundle" and "OverlayCreator" from this path:

    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/extensions

    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CS5ServiceManager
  5. Install the Folio Producer tools for InDesign CS5 version 1.0 from this link:

    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5017&fileID=4732

    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5018
  6. Install the latest version of the Folio Producer tools for InDesign CS5, currently version 1.5:

    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5225

    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5224
  7. Launch InDesign, choose Window > Extensions > Folio Builder and install any updates if prompted.

InDesign CS5.5

 

  1. Run the uninstaller for the last Folio Builder Only or Folio Producer Tools update you installed using the Programs and Features control panel (Windows) or the Uninstallers in /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ (Mac).
  2. Repeat for any remaining Folio Builder Only or Folio Producer Tools that appear in the list of programs (Windows) or have an Uninstaller (Mac).
  3. Uninstall InDesign CS5.5 using the same method.
  4. Remove the folder "Adobe InDesign CS5.5" from this path:

    Mac: /Applications

    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe
  5. Remove the folders "FolioBuilderBundle" and "OverlayCreator" from this path:

    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/extensions

    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CS5ServiceManager
  6. Install InDesign CS5.5.
  7. Install the latest version of the Folio Producer tools for InDesign CS5.5, currently version 1.5:

    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5226

    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5223
  8. Launch InDesign, choose Window > Extensions > Folio Builder and install any updates if prompted.

Additional Information

If you are not running on a 64-bit Windows operating system, remove the " (x86)" from the paths provided above.
