Backing up the Breeze database and Breeze data is an important task. Instructions for doing so can be found in TechNote 79895439.

In this TechNote, the procedures for restoring the Breeze database and Breeze data are discussed.

Using the OSQL utility to restore the database

If you are using the Breeze database engine and you want to restore the database from a back up, follow the steps below:

  1. Login to the Breeze server and stop the Macromedia Breeze Application Service. If you have Breeze Live, you will also need to stop the Flash Communication Admin and Flash Communication Server services.
  2. Login to the Breeze database engine using a trusted database connection:

    osql -E -d master

Note:master is the master database of the entire database. The osql command is located in C:\MSSQL\Binn by default.
  3. To restore the database, run the following command:

RESTORE DATABASE breeze FROM DISK = 'C:\Breeze_Database_Engine\breeze.bak'

Note: The Breeze database back up file is called breeze.bak. It is located on the C: drive, in a subfolder called Breeze_Database_Engine.
  4. Enter the following command:

    go
  5. Start the Macromedia Breeze Application Service. If you have Breeze Live, start the Flash Communication Admin and Flash Communication Server services.

The database should be restored. To verify that the Breeze database has been successfully restored, logon to the Breeze Manager and verify the information.

Restoring the Content Folder onto disk

To restore the content folder from back up, simply copy the content folder from the back up to C:\Breeze.
