In the Admin Console, go to Users.
Learn how system and storage admins can reclaim content from users who leave the organization by transferring their assets directly to another user.
Overview
Reclaim content from users who leave your organization by transferring their assets to another user. With Adobe storage for business, your organization owns user accounts and their content. When a user leaves, you can transfer their assets to another user directly through the Adobe Admin Console.
When you remove a user, you're prompted to reclaim any assets stored in Adobe Storage for business. Assets you transfer move directly into the recipient's storage—no download or upload required—preserving the original folder structure, comments, version history, and collaboration links and permissions, so previously shared content stays shared. The recipient can access the reclaimed assets in Adobe Home. Learn more about the end-user experience.
Use Asset Reclamation only for users leaving your organization. If you're migrating users to another organization, use Asset Migration instead.
- The recipient must already be part of your organization and have storage allocated to appear as an eligible choice.
- Storage quota is pooled at the organization level; a transfer won't be blocked even if it pushes an individual recipient over their own quota.
- Reclaimed content is organized so the recipient can identify it: Creative Cloud Projects and PDF Spaces keep their original names; everything else is placed inside a new folder named [Removed user]'s files.
Select the users to remove, then select Remove users.
Choose one of the following transfer options:
- Keep content for now and transfer or delete it later: Individual user folders stay in the Inactive Users tab until you take further action or your content retention policy expires. Content isn't visible to other users in the meantime.
- Permanently delete the individual user folder content: Removes folders with no option to transfer or recover their contents.
- Transfer user content to another user in your organization: File permissions and cloud-based files transfer to the recipient you select. Search for the recipient by name or email. To appear as an eligible recipient, a user must already be a member of your organization and have storage allocated.
Some assets aren't supported by the asset reclamation workflow. If any selected users have no transferable assets, you won't see transfer options for them; you'll see a review-only list instead, with no action needed.
Admins of education organizations won't see the transfer options and must go to Storage > Individual user folders > Inactive users to transfer content to themselves or another org member.
Select Next or Submit.
In the confirmation dialog, select Remove users.
Each of these actions is recorded in the audit log.
When you transfer content to another user, you receive a notification in the Admin Console when the transfer completes.
Reclaim content from Inactive User folders
Reclaim assets from users no longer active in your organization at any time. You can also define how long content from inactive users is retained before it’s permanently deleted. Learn more about setting a content retention policy.
In the Admin Console, go to Storage > Individual user folders > Inactive users. The list shows each inactive folder's name, size, and the owner's email.
To find a specific folder, enter the user's email address, username, first name, or last name in the search field.
Search may return no results if the user's information was deleted from the system, the user was never part of your organization, was a directory user, was removed from the directory or deprovisioned, or has no inactive storage.
Select one or more user folders and choose Transfer content.
Search for and select the recipient, then select Finish. To appear as an eligible recipient, a user must already be a member of your organization and have storage allocated.
To permanently remove the folder and its assets, select Delete folder.
Both actions are recorded in the audit log.
After the transfer completes, you receive a notification in the Admin Console.
Reclaimed assets include supported content from the user's Adobe Storage.

If your organization has access to a departed user's account, you can sign in and manually transfer these assets before the user is removed. If not, these assets will not be recoverable once the user is removed.
