Publish raw images to Adobe Stock

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC 

In the previous release of Adobe Bridge CC 2015 version 6.3.1, a new feature was introduced that allows you to easily upload your JPEG photos to Adobe Stock using the new Publish panel. In this release of Bridge CC 2017, this feature has been extended to support uploading of raw images to Adobe Stock from within Bridge.

Now when you drag a raw image from the Content panel onto the Publish panel, Bridge displays a dialog to confirm the conversion of raw image to JPEG for upload. Once you confirm, Bridge converts the raw image to JPEG using the Camera Raw plug-in. The uploaded JPEG image (converted from the raw image) appears on the Uploads page in the Adobe Stock Contributor portal.

Search Adobe Stock

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

In addition to searching for assets in Bridge or on your computer, you can also use the Quick Search box (on the right side of the Application bar) to search for high-quality Adobe Stock illustrations, vectors, and photos. When you search, the results appear on the Adobe Stock website in your default web browser. 

To switch your search between Adobe Stock search and Windows (Win)/Spotlight (Mac) search options, use the drop-down list in the Quick Search box.

Bug fixes and improvements

Enhanced in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

The following major customer issues related to device detection have been fixed.

• On Mac OS 10.11, Bridge CC 2017 now recognizes the following types of devices:
  • Devices (such as cameras or Android-based devices) connected in PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) or MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode
  • iDevices such as iPad or iPhone
• Bridge CC 2017 now detects data cards larger than 64-GB memory size.

The following bugs have been fixed in this release:

• Bridge crashing on Mac OS X 10.11.6 when browsing folders and media on a dual-monitor setup. Bridge CC 2017 does not crash in this setup now.
• Missing dimensions for BMP and GIF files in the Metadata panel. Bridge CC 2017 now displays the dimensions for these file types in the Metadata panel.

6.3.1 release

Publish images to Adobe Stock

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC 

Bridge CC now allows you to easily publish your photos to Adobe Stock. To get started, first set up your profile as Contributor on Adobe Stock Contributor portal (https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/). Once you complete the registration, your Adobe ID becomes ready for contribution.

You can now simply drag a selection of photos from the Content panel onto the new Publish panel in Bridge to directly upload your photos to Adobe Stock.

You can go to the Adobe Stock Contributor portal to tag the uploaded images and submit them to Adobe Stock for moderation.

HiDPI support and user interface scaling preference for Windows

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC 

The native support for HiDPI monitor displays is now available for Windows ─ in addition to the existing support for Apple's Retina display. When you work on a HiDPI Windows monitor set at a DPI of 150% or higher, the user interface automatically scales to 200% so that you continue to see sharp and clear UI elements, readable font size, and crisp icons across a wide variety of DPI display settings.

The new User Interface Scaling preference allows you to choose a scaling option ─ Auto, 100%, or 200%.

6.2 release

Cache purging

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC 

Adobe Bridge now optimizes your cache by automatically purging the stale cache items when your app is idle. By default, the purge duration is set to 30 days. This means that any cache item that is older than 30 days is considered stale and therefore purged by Bridge. You can configure the purge duration and set any value between 1 day and 180 days.

Compact cache on exit

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

Compact Cache On Exit is a new option in cache preferences, which allows you to set up an automatic clean-up of cache when you exit Bridge, in case the cache database size increases beyond 100 MB. 

The central cache of Bridge stores thumbnail, preview, and metadata information in a database to improve the performance when you browse or search for files. However, the larger the cache, the more disk space it uses. This new option helps you manage the cache size for optimal performance.

Import files from devices on Mac

Enhanced in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

When importing files from a device on Mac OS 10.11.x in the earlier releases of Bridge CC, the app did not recognize the following types of devices:

• iOS mobile devices
• Android mobile devices and digital cameras connected in PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) or MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode

In this release of Bridge CC, an alternative to import media from these devices has been provided. Clicking File > Import From Devices launches Apple Image Capture to bring files from these devices into Bridge.

Note: This is a Mac only feature.

Thumbnail generation

Enhanced in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

In this release of Bridge CC, the generation/extraction of thumbnails, previews, and metadata has been optimized to improve the responsiveness when you browse through a large set of assets.  

Now when you select a folder, the thumbnails, previews, and metadata are extracted on priority for only the onscreen assets. The thumbnails for the remaining files are either generated on demand (when you scroll up or down) or when the application is idle.

This enhancement enables you to:

• Work with bulky folders without any performance issues, such as hangs and not responding states.
• Have a fully updated Filter panel even before all the thumbnails/previews are generated.
• Search for files even before all the thumbnails/previews are generated.

Features not available in Bridge CC (6.2) release

Unavailable in Adobe Bridge CC

The following features are not supported as a part of Bridge CC.

• Export panel
• Compact mode
• 3D file format thumbnails and previews

Adobe Output Module

Adobe Output Module is now available as a separate module that can be installed after you've installed Bridge CC. For detailed instructions, see Install Adobe Output Module for Bridge CC.

The functionality to create contact sheets, PDFs, and web galleries are also available in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, which are included in your Creative Cloud subscription.

Export panel

Compact mode

The Compact mode is no longer available in this release of Bridge CC. However, if you resize the application window and make it smaller, the application rearranges the panels to resemble the earlier compact mode. Maximizing the application window again, however, does not return the panels to the previous state.

3D file format thumbnails

This release of Bridge CC does not generate thumbnails and previews for 3D file formats.

The Synchronized Window feature is not available in this release of Bridge CC.

You can still use the New Window command (File > New Window) and open another instance of the Bridge window.

Installation

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

Using Installer

Adobe Bridge now uses a separate installer, and does not get installed along with other applications. To install Adobe Bridge, you need to download and install it separately. This decoupling from other Adobe apps, enables independent delivery of Adobe Bridge, without depending on other applications for deployment.

Download and install Bridge from the Download Center.

1. Sign in to the Creative Cloud at http://creative.adobe.com
2. In the top bar, click Download Center.
3. Click Download next to Bridge icon.
4. On the Bridge product page, click Download.

Using Creative Cloud desktop app

You can also install Adobe Bridge CC using the Creative Cloud desktop app. See Download and install apps for more details.

HiDPI support

New in this release of Adobe Bridge CC

To take advantage of advancements in high-resolution display technologies, Adobe Bridge includes native support for high-resolution displays. This feature is available for Mac OS X (for example, the MacBook Pro with Retina display). You can work with a sharper and clearer user interface on devices with high-resolution displays. Thumbnails in panels are also much clearer. Text and complex artwork also display in greater clarity, and in colors and hues that appear more vibrant than before.

The following features are no longer available in this release of Adobe Bridge.

• Export Panel
• Compact Mode
