Learn how to transform your photos with the Crop and Geometry tools.
The Crop and geometry tool helps you refine an image by trimming away unwanted areas, so the subject stands out clearly and is balanced. It allows you to adjust composition, correct framing, and prepare images for different formats while keeping the focus on what truly matters in the photograph.
-
-
In the Crop and geometry panel that appears, select Aspect to crop photos according to the following:
- Original: Select inside the crop border to reposition the image, then drag the corner or edge handles to adjust the crop boundaries.
- Ratios: Select an available aspect ratio for cropping.
- Social Media Aspect Sizes: Select a preset size optimized for social media platforms.
-
Toggle between Locked and Unlocked to crop freely with or without a preset aspect ratio.
-
Select Orientation to rotate the image between portrait and landscape.
-
Drag the cropping wheel to rotate and crop the photo by an angle between -45 and 45 degrees.
Shooting from very close or using certain lenses can distort perspective, making straight lines look curved, tilted, or skewed. For example, photographing a tall building from below can make it appear to lean. You can correct this easily using the Upright modes and geometry sliders in the Geometry panel.
-
Open the photo in detail view, select Crop .
-
In the Crop and geometry panel that appears, select Geometry to adjust the perspective of photos according to the following:
- Auto : Analyzes the image and applies automatic perspective correction.
- Level : Corrects horizontal tilt to level the image.
- Vertical : Corrects vertical distortion for upright subjects.
- Full : Corrects both horizontal and vertical distortion.
- Guided : Allows you to draw guides on the image to define straight lines manually.
-
Toggle on Constrain Crop to restrict cropping to visible image areas when applying Upright corrections.
-
Use the Geometry sliders to fine-tune the perspective corrections.
- Distortion: Corrects lens distortion by straightening bowed or pinched lines in the image.
- Vertical: Adjusts vertical perspective to make vertical lines appear straight and parallel.
- Horizontal: Adjusts horizontal perspective to make horizontal lines appear straight and parallel.
- Rotate: Rotates the image to correct camera tilt and straighten the horizon.
- Aspect: Adjusts the image's perspective width to make it appear wider or narrower.
- Scale: Resizes the image while preserving the original aspect ratio.
- X Offset: Shifts the image left or right along the horizontal axis.
- Y Offset: Shifts the image up or down along the vertical axis.
While correcting the perspective of your photo, you may get white areas near the image boundaries. To remove the white area, toggle on Constrain Crop, which automatically crops the photo according to the original dimensions.
Guided upright mode
-
Select Guided Upright in the Geometry tab and then draw two to four guide upright lines.
Draw the upright guide lines by sliding your finger on the photo. Draw the upright guide lines by sliding your finger on the photo. -
When you draw at least two guide upright lines, the photo transforms interactively. You can draw up to four guide upright lines on your image in the following combinations:
- Two horizontal guide upright lines only or two vertical guide upright lines only
- Two horizontal guide upright lines and two vertical guide upright lines
- Two horizontal guide upright lines and one vertical guide upright line
- Two vertical guide upright lines and one horizontal guide upright line
- One vertical guide upright line and one horizontal guide upright line
For any other combination, the app displays an Invalid Guide message.
-
To delete a guide upright line, select the line and select Delete .
-
To add another guide upright line, draw one on your image. The Add icon is enabled when another guide can be added and disabled when the maximum number of guides has been reached.
Some of the Upright modes may crop-off pixels in your photo to correct perspective, even when the Constrain Crop option is off. You may not be able to retrieve the cropped pixels later in the Crop mode.
Straighten, flip, and rotate photos
-
Open the photo in detail view, select Crop .
-
In the Crop and geometry panel that appears, select Moreto straighten, flip, or rotate photos.
- Straighten: Aligns the photo by correcting tilt and leveling the horizon.
- Flip Vertical: Flips the photo from top to bottom along the horizontal axis.
- Flip Horizontal: Flips the photo from left to right along the vertical axis.
- Rotate: Turns the photo clockwise or counterclockwise by a specified angle.
