Lightroom not only empowers you to create beautiful images and express your vision, but it helps you become a better photographer with new ways to get inspired and grow your skills, right in the app. You can get hands-on experience learning how to make your photos look their best with a robust collection of interactive tutorials. You can also browse through different categories of inspirational photos by fellow photography members and tap them to open and see how the photo was edited, step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

Edit photos for other photographers and allow them to edit yours

Introduced in Lightroom for iOS version 7.4 (June 2022 release)

In the Remix tab of the Discover feed, find out what other photographers are doing and learn the latest editing trends from them. You can also edit photos of others, compare edits, and help learn from each other.

  1. Tap Discover in the bottom right corner and select the Remix tab.

  2. To edit a photo, scroll to All Remixable Edits to view the remixable photos. Tap the  Remix icon to remix a photo. 

    When editing a photo, use the drop-down at the top of the screen to select photo As Shot or Original Edit

  3. Once you have edited the photo, tap the ( ) icon. Add a comment about your editing process, and tap Post for the user to see your edits. All edits made will appear in the Remixes tab of the user's profile.

  4. To share and allow others to edit your photo: Open an edited photo and tap the share icon > Share to Discover. Tap Allow Remixing toggle button > tap the check icon. Fill in the details like TitleDescription, etc., before sharing the photo.

  5. To view the remixes of a photo, tap the user's name to visit their profile and tap the Remixes tab. Open a photo to view all the edits made by different people in one place. Tap through and view each edit in the lower navigation panel. The adjustments made are visible on the right.

    This way, you can learn, compare, and find editing styles that work for you. You can also tap the heart icon if you like a photo.

  6. If you like the edit you saw, tap Save as Preset in the right panel to save it for future use. You can access these later from the Presets panel.

  7. To view the remixes of your shared photos, visit your profile and look under the Remixes tab. The latest order of edits made by different people will be updated in each photo.

Get hands-on experience with interactive tutorials

Interactive tutorials provide a free and easy way to learn a wide variety of editing techniques while working within the app. You can access tutorials from a range of professional photographers and photo educators and learn to apply the edits step-by-step, right within the Lightroom app. To access interactive tutorials, do the following:

  1. Tap the Learn icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. The Learn screen displays a variety of interactive tutorials for you to learn various photo editing techniques. Use the For you or Browse tab to view and select a tutorial of your choice.

  3. Start a tutorial in Lightroom for mobile (iOS)

  4. Follow the tutorial with a sample photo provided within Lightroom for mobile. You can press and hold the screen anytime during the tutorial to view the before and after edits in the photo. Starting from Lightroom for mobile (iOS) version 5.2.3, you can go back and retry steps that were previously done.

    Once you have completed all the steps of the tutorial, a message to get your feedback is displayed. Here you can rate your experience with the tutorial.

Note:

Access tutorials for Color Grading, starting from Lightroom for mobile version 6.3. In Learn, simply tap Browse > By Tools > Color Grading to view the tutorials.

Discover inspirational photos

Discover inspirational photos by fellow photographers, browse through different categories of photo edits, and tap a Discover photo to see how the photo was edited, step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

To discover inspirational photos, do the following:

  1. Tap the Discover icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. The Discover section displays a whole range of inspirational edits in the For you and New tabs. Browse through the edits and tap a photo of your choice.

  3. Once you tap a photo, a new screen appears that displays the output of edits made to the photo.

  4. Tap Edits in the bottom to see how the photo was edited, step-by-step.

Save settings as a preset

You can save the exact combination of slider positions in the photo as a preset to apply to other photos. To save the edit settings as a preset, do the following:

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Discover section.

  2. Tap () in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  3. Select Save as Preset.

    Use this option to quickly save the displayed edits as a preset.

    The preset is saved to User Presets folder in the Presets pop-up menu, by default.

Note:

Alternatively, open a photo in Discover, tap Edits, scroll till the bottom of the menu, and tap the Save As Preset button.

Follow your favorite photographers

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile 6.0 (October 2020 release)

  1. Tap the Learn or Discover icon at the bottom of the screen. 

  2. Tap the For you tab to see recommended tutorials or inspirational edits. You can also scroll down to find Featured, Trending, and Get inspired posts.

  3. Select a desired tutorial or inspirational edit to view it.

  4. If you like a photographer's work, you can follow their work. In Learn or Discover, simply select the post you like, tap the author's name, and then tap Follow. In Discover, you can see the edits from the people you follow in the Following tab.

    Note:

    The photographers that you follow can be viewed by other Lightroom users.

Block or unblock photographers in Discover

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile 6.3 (June 2021 release)

  1. In a Discover post, tap the author's thumbnail.

  2. In the author's profile, tap the three-dot icon and select the Block option.

    When you block an author, you will not be able to view their profile and posts. The blocked person will also not be able to view your profile or posts. Blocked authors are not notified when you block them.

  3. To unblock someone, visit your profile > Edit profile > Blocked list and then unblock an author.

Share your edits

Introduced in Lightroom for mobile 5.3 (June 2020 release)

You can share your photos along with their edits to the Discover section to inspire and connect with other Lightroom users. You can also allow your edits to be saved as preset by other users.

To share your edits:

  1. Select a photo whose edit you want to share with other users.

  2. Tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner and select Share Edit.

  3. In the Share Edit dialog box, enter the following details:

    Title

    Enter the title for your edit.

    Description

    Enter the description that best describes your edit.

    Categories

    Select at least one category to help get your post easily discovered by users. You can select up tp three categories.

    Permissions

    Select Enable Save as Preset to allow other users to save your edits as preset. This option is enabled by default. Select Include location Info to share your location info along with the edits.

    Copyright

    Displays your profile name. To change your name in copyright, edit your name in your profile.

  4. Tap the  icon. A shareable link is displayed that you can copy and share with others.

You can view and edit the details of your shared edits in the Edits tab of your profile.

Note:

The likes you receive on your shared edits are private to you and will not be visible to others.

Easily find tutorials and posts of photographers

Starting from Lightroom for mobile version 5.0, you can view profiles of authors who create interactive tutorials and Discover posts. From each of the author profiles, you can find a collated list of their tutorials and posts and also learn more about them.

  1. Tap the Learn or Discover icon.

  2. Scroll to the desired interactive tutorial or Discover post.

  3. In the thumbnail, tap the author's name. You can also open the tutorial or post and then tap the author's name. 

  4. Tap one of the following: 

    About

    View details about the author. 

    Tutorials

    Find tutorials that the author has created. 

    Edits

    Find edits that the author has created.

    Following

    View the people they follow.

    Followers

    View the people who follow them.
