When you create a project in Premiere Rush, you can Sync to Creative Cloud from the Media Browser screen. When this option is selected, the project is saved to the cloud and is available for editing on other devices.
This preference is enabled by default, but you can deselect it and create local device projects only as well.
When a project is created with the Sync to CC preference enabled, media imported from a local device source is uploaded to a folder in your Creative Cloud account. It ensures that the media for this project is available on other devices running Premiere Rush (where you are logged into the same CC account).
Media imported from a cloud source, such as Creative Cloud Files or Dropbox is not uploaded. It is because it is already available on your other devices.
After the project is created and open (with media shown in the timeline) you see a blue, circular icon in the upper right title bar of the application. This icon shows progress of the upload.
When this progress is complete, it means that Adobe has uploaded all media in your project. At this point, you can open the project on other devices.
If you see an upload error dialog, close and then reopen the project later, when your Internet connection is stable, for the media upload to complete successfully.
By default, Premiere Rush does not upload media unless you are connected to a WiFi network. If you want to upload media over your cellular network, do the following.
- Open Premiere Rush and see the Project Browser.
- Tap the gear icon in the upper left.
- Choose Preferences.
- Enable Use Cellular For Sync.
- If you close the project while media is uploading, then media upload continues while the project is closed. However, there is no indication of media upload from the project browser. To observe whether media upload has completed, reopen the project.
- If you switch away from Premiere Rush while media is uploading, it pauses. Premiere Rush continues uploading when the app is brought back to the foreground. If you receive a call or message while uploading, switch back to Premiere Rush to let the upload finish before attempting to open your projects on another device.
- When opening a project that was created on a different device, Premiere Rush downloads the necessary media for the project. You can observe the download progress by tapping the circular blue progress bar in the title bar, while the project is open.
- If you switch away from Premiere Rush while media is downloading, it can fail if Premiere Rush is downloading from Creative Cloud Files. If this scenario occurs, close the project, and reopen it.
- Always close your project on any device you are using, before you open the project on another device.
- If you close Premiere Rush while media is uploading or downloading, media sync stops. Opening the project in Premiere Rush restarts media sync for that project.
- It is a good idea to keep Premiere Rush in the foreground while media is syncing (upload or download), to avoid delay or errors.
If your media has already synced (or you believe that it is) on iOS, but media is still showing as offline in Premiere Rush, try the following:
When a project is created with the Sync to Creative Cloud preference enabled, Premiere Rush creates optimized media and saves it to a folder in your Creative Cloud account. Unlike iOS, the Premiere Rush desktop application does not sync, upload, or download media, but instead creates optimized files that can be imported on other devices.
After the project is created and open (with media shown in the timeline) you see a blue, circular icon in the upper-right title bar of the application that shows the progress of the creation of optimized media.
After Premiere Rush has completed creating this media, the Creative Cloud application syncs it to the cloud. When the Creative Cloud application completes the upload, it indicates that you can open the project on other devices.
To ensure that syncing occurs smoothly, follow these guidelines:
- Ensure that Premiere Rush completes creating optimized media for all files in your project.
- Check the Creative Cloud application in your Mac or Windows toolbar or taskbar and confirm that the media has uploaded on the original iOS device or desktop machine.
- Close the project on any device you are using, before you open the project on another device.
- On other desktop machines, check the Creative Cloud application in your Mac or Windows toolbar/taskbar and confirm that the media has downloaded before launching Premiere Rush or opening your newly created projects.
If your media is already synced (or you believe that it is) on desktop, but media is still showing as offline in Premiere Rush (or your list of Projects are not loading), try the following:
- Always make sure that you are logged into the same Creative Cloud account on all of your devices.
- If sync is failing within the Premiere Rush iOS application, make sure that you are connected to a strong WiFi network. (Or you have enabled "Use Cellular For Sync" and remember to leave Premiere Rush open and in the foreground until sync completes).
- If sync fails within the Premiere Rush desktop application, make sure that your Creative Cloud application is open and logged in. Sync must be completed within the Creative Cloud application before Premiere Rush can properly link to your media. - If some media does not download when opening the project, confirm that this media was successfully uploaded to Creative Cloud Files from the device which imported the media. Browse the folders and files within /Adobe/Assets folder of CC Files, and look for the project folder. Confirm that the media uploaded from your device is in that project folder.
- If you don't see it there, try closing and reopening the project on the device where you created it.
