March 2022 release

With the March 2022 release of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, the software version will be updated from 21.xx to 22.xx. This change applies only to the Continuous (DC) track of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. For more information, see Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader upcoming version changes.

Adobe Sign is now rebranded as Acrobat Sign. Also, the Adobe Sign tool in the right pane is renamed to Request Signatures for easier identification and alignment with the tool's actual purpose.

When you open a PDF form, Acrobat detects any unsigned form fields and displays a contextual prompt to use the Fill & Sign tool or the Request Signatures tool.

Бележка:

Adobe is testing this new experience in Acrobat, and it may not be available to all users. Also, the tooltip appears only three times for a user session varying between 24 hours to 72 hours.

If you launch the Fill & Sign tool to fill a PDF form, Acrobat detects any unsigned fields and displays a tooltip to use the Request Signatures tool.

Request Signature prompt

When you complete filling out the PDF form and save it, Acrobat detects any unsigned fields in the form and prompts you to use the Request Signatures tool.

If you fill a form using the Fill & Sign tool and exit the tool after saving the changes, Acrobat detects the blank signature fields and displays a prompt at the top to use the Request Signatures tool.

When you try to print a PDF form in Acrobat using the print icon, Acrobat detects any unsigned fields in the form and displays a prompt to Request signatures instead of printing or to Sign online instead of printing.

The auto-adjust layout feature is extended to PDFs containing a header, footer, along with para, list, and image constructs that were earlier supported. Now the changes to the header or footer of a PDF file works in the following ways:

  • If you click inside the header or footer text box, the rest of the PDF document is greyed out.
  • Editing is allowed in header or footer text boxes. However, editing a header or footer on one page does not reflect the change on subsequent pages.
  • The header or footer from the previous page gets copied when you insert a new page to the PDF.
  • You can move text boxes from the header or footer area to the main content area and vice-versa.

Acrobat PDF Maker now supports HCL Notes 11 (formerly Lotus Notes).

You can now sort all your shared PDF files based on the Last Activity on the file.

If you haven't set the default image in your Adobe account and participated in file collaboration workflows, Acrobat now sets one of the following default avatars to your account:

Acrobat now shows the last visited page whenever you open a shared file. It is helpful in cases where you are reviewing a large PDF file and do not remember what page you were reviewing in your last session.

The Done or Close button for a review file, indicating that you have finished reviewing the file, is now removed for the review initiator. Similarly, once the reviewers finish reviewing the shared PDF, Acrobat does not remind them to provide feedback on the shared file.

Apple has dropped pre-installation of the Python framework with the latest macOS Monterey 12.3 Beta release. The change results in Acrobat and Reader installation failure on macOS. Acrobat and Acrobat Reader installers are updated to fix the issue. The installers are now compatible with macOS Monterey 12.3 Beta.

  • Improved user experience with VoiceOver and document navigation and scrolling: Now, your document keeps scrolling instead of getting stuck after VoiceOver reads out till the end of the visible page.
  • Some visually decorative items like borders and shadings of text boxes, paragraphs underlined hyperlinks, and images marked as decorative in Microsoft Word are now tagged as Artifacts instead of being listed in the document's tag tree. This helps the screen readers to read out the relevant information.

When you click All Files in Acrobat Home to view your files or scroll a huge file list, Acrobat used to take considerable time retrieving the meta-data and other information to display the PDFs. Now, the overall experience is optimized and improved by implementing scroll-based pagination.

When you open a PDF from an email attachment and save a read-only copy, the Save As dialog box now allows you to choose the location to save the file.

Similarly, when you open a PDF from your desktop, your Document Cloud account, or any other storage connectors like Google Drive or OneDrive, Acrobat silently saves the changes in the original file before closing it.
