Troubleshoot Publish Online errors

While trying to publish your documents using Publish Online in InDesign, you get the following error.

An error occurred while uploading your document. Please try again.

Type the error number or title below to find your error and see common solutions.

To resolve this issue, try the solution in the table below:

Error code Solution
Error code: 10 Unable to connect to the server. Remove any proxy settings from the system, restart the system, and try again.
Error code: 14 Server temporarily unavailable. Try again after some time.
Error code: 16

Try one of the following:

  • File size is too large. Reduce the file size and try again.
  • Set the system time accurately and retry.
Error code: 17

Try one of the following:

  • File size is too large. Reduce the file size and try again.
  • Set the system time accurately and retry.
Error code: 18 Connection lost while publishing. Check your network connection and try again.
Error code: 22 Server temporarily unavailable. Try again after some time.
Error code: 23 Server temporarily unavailable. Try again after some time.
Error code: 33 Unable to connect to the server. Remove any proxy settings from the system, restart the system, and try again.
Error code: 39

Try one of the following:

  • Set the system time accurately and retry.
  • Check network connection.
  • Remove proxy settings, if any.
Error code: 40

Try one of the following:

  • File size is too large. Reduce the file size and try again.
  • Set the system time accurately and retry.
