Launch issues on Windows 10 | Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements, and Elements Organizer

This issue occurs only on computers upgraded to the Windows 10 operating system from an earlier version of Windows. The issue does not occur on computers on which Windows 10 was installed after formatting the disk drive.

Elements Organizer 2018 is stuck at splash screen

If Elements Organizer 2018 is stuck at the splash screen, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Elements Organizer 2018 gets stuck during launch.

  1. On your computer, navigate to the following location: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ Elements Organizer\16.0.

    Alternatively, you can press Windows + R to view the Run dialog box, type %appdata%, and click OK. The roaming folder is opened. Navigate to Adobe\Elements Organizer\16.0.

  2. Open the file Debug Database.txt and look for the flag entry that shows DS.ForceCPUOnly false false.

  3. Now edit this flag entry to DS.ForceCPUOnly true false.

  4. Select File > Save to save the changes.

    Re-launch Elements Organizer.

Elements applications crash on launch

Sometimes, Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements, and Elements Organizer cannot run on computers that have been upgraded to Windows 10. The applications crash when you launch them.

Solutions

  1. Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 from the Microsoft site.

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Launch Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements, or Elements Organizer.

  1. Uninstall all Adobe products from your computer.

  2. Reinstall all applications.

  3. Restart your system.

  4. Launch Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements, or Elements Organizer.

Adobe Premiere Elements crashes on launch due to permission or security settings

Adobe Premiere Elements can crash on launch if permissions are not enabled in the Documents folder. To resolve this issue, follow one of these solutions:

Solutions

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Select the Documents folder.

  3. Check for the Adobe folder.  If the folder exists, select and open it. If the folder doesn’t exist, then create a folder named Adobe and open it.

  4. Right-click the Adobe folder and select Properties.

    Select Properties in the context menu of the Adobe folder.

  5. Select the Security tab and click the Edit button.

    Click Edit under the Security tab.

  6. Select the user name and click Allow in the Full control field.

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. In the folder Documents, browse and select the folder named Adobe.

  3. Right-click the Adobe folder and select Properties.

  4. Click the Security tab to access the permissions.

  5. Click the Advanced button.

    Click Advanced to access the settings.

  6. In the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, click Change in the Owner's field.

  7. Now click the Advanced button.

  8. In the Select User or Group dialog box, click Find Now. In the search result, select your user account and click OK.

  9. Click OK in the Select User or Group dialog boxClick Apply and then click OK.

  10. Click the OK buttons to complete the task.

    Poznámka:

    If you're the owner of a folder, check 'Replace ownership on subcontainers and object' in the Advanced Security Settings dialog box to control the subfolders in the folder.

Adobe Premiere Elements crashes on launch with display driver error

When you upgrade to Windows 10 and try to launch Adobe Premiere Elements, it crashes with a display driver error.

Solutions

  1. Right-click the Start button at the lower-left corner of the screen and select Device Manager.

  2. Expand Display adapters.

  3. Right-click the display driver and select Update Driver Software.

  4. Once the update is complete, restart your machine.

  5. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements.

  1. Right-click the Start button at the lower-left corner of the screen and select  Command Prompt (Admin).

  2. Navigate to the directory where Adobe Premiere Elements is installed. Generally, the install location is:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 2018

  3. Type gpusniffer.exe and hit Enter.

  4. If the output does not give any information of the graphic card, then there could be some issue with the display driver. Visit the display driver's website and use the available options to detect and update the drivers.

  5. Once the update is complete, restart the machine.

  6. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements.

  1. Right-click the Start  button at the lower-left corner of the screen and select Device Manager.

  2. Expand Display adapters.

  3. Right-click the display driver and select Disable.

  4. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements.

  5. Go to Device Manager, right-click the display driver, and select Enable.

  2. Expand Display adapters.

  3. Right-click the display driver and select Properties.

  4. Select the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver.

  5. Once the roll-back is complete, restart the machine.

  6. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements.

Adobe Premiere Elements freezes on launch

When you upgrade to Windows 10 and try to launch Adobe Premiere Elements, it hangs or freezes.

Solution

  1. Close Adobe Premiere Elements.

  2. Click the Start button at the lower-left corner of the screen and type %appdata%.

  3. Go to Adobe > Premiere Elements and rename the 16.0 folder to 16.0.old.

  4. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements.
