Learn how to fix issues with XD libraries and document assets.
You may encounter the following issues when working with XD libraries:
Read on to learn more about these issues and how to fix them.
Your linked library gets delinked from the source document when a coeditor lacking permissions to the library publishes another linked library from that document.
Once delinked, your library will no longer receive any updates from the source document. As a result, any consuming documents that use linked assets from your library won't receive any updates.
To check if your library is delinked from the source document, open the Libraries manager in the source document. If you get the Publish button instead of the Up to date status, it is delinked.
When you publish a linked library, ensure that you invite all your document coeditors to the library as viewers or editors.
To relink your library with the source document:
The library you chose is now relinked and in sync with the source document. As a result, all the consuming documents linked with the library start receiving any future library updates.
Links to assets in your document from one or more linked libraries can break due to the following reasons:
When you open the consuming document that has broken links, you get a dialog that lists instructions to fix all the broken links in the document.
If you ignore the dialog, and later click a specific broken link, you get a dialog with instructions to fix the issue specific to that link. Following the instructions will help you to fix all the broken links in the document that are associated with that library.
Specific broken link scenarios and their fixes are given below.
Learn about the various scenarios for broken links and their fixes below.
If the asset is linked to a library to which you have access but is not yet added to Your libraries, you get a prompt asking you to add the library. If the asset was deleted from the library, you get an error message.
If the asset was earlier linked to a source cloud document directly, you get a prompt to publish a linked library from the source document as linking assets directly from documents is not supported anymore. To learn more, see Migrate your design systems to Creative Cloud Libraries.
If the link is associated with a library to which you don't have access anymore and you have pending library invites, you get a prompt to accept all the pending invites. After accepting the pending invites, if any of those libraries has the matching asset, then the broken link gets fixed. If none of those libraries have the matching asset, ask your collaborators to invite you to the missing libraries.
If the link is associated with a library to which you have no access anymore and you have no pending library invites, you get a prompt to ask your collaborators to invite you to the missing libraries.
If the asset is associated with a library to which you already have access but the link to the matching asset is deleted, or the matching asset itself is deleted from the library, you get a prompt to convert the asset to a local asset.
