The Adobe Genuine Service (AGS) is a free service that periodically verifies whether Adobe apps on your machine are genuine and notifies customers if they are not. The AGS can help protect customer machines from security vulnerabilities and harmful malware that may be present in non-genuine apps.
The service is designed to:
- Periodically verify whether the Adobe apps installed on your device are genuine.
- Notify you through pop-ups and in-app notifications if non-genuine Adobe apps are found.
- Provide detailed information on how to resolve the issue via the notification.
- Provide access to a specialized customer support team via the notification.
Only genuine Adobe apps and services provide the latest features and functionality, including ongoing access to support and the latest security updates. Therefore, in an effort to block fraudulent activity and help safeguard your machine, Adobe may disable the identified non-genuine Adobe app.
Customers who install Adobe Acrobat Reader for the first time now have the option to also install AGS. If you would like to install AGS on your machine, select the check box shown below before downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Adobe Genuine Service via Adobe Acrobat Reader software restrictions-
Unless Adobe needs to obtain separate consent to install the Adobe Genuine Service, you acknowledge that this installation or update may result in the download of the “Adobe Genuine Service,” a program that first checks for the presence of Adobe software and, if found, detects and identifies whether there are any copies of non-genuine Adobe software. The Software and Adobe Genuine Service may collect and transmit information to Adobe as described at https://www.adobe.com/genuine.html (or subsequent URL). A determination by Adobe that any Adobe software is not genuine may result in partial or complete inoperability, suspension, or termination of your use of the non-genuine Adobe software.
