Fix "Unknown Server Error" for Creative Cloud

Fix the "Unknown Server Error" message when signing in to a Creative Cloud app.

When you try to sign in to a Creative Cloud app after updating the Creative Cloud desktop app, you may receive the "Unknown Server Error" message. Try the following solutions in the given order to fix the error. Go to each subsequent solution only if the preceding one doesn't work.

Solution 1: Update to the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app

The Creative Cloud desktop app version 1.0.0.183 and later includes an update that usually resolves this issue. In most cases, Creative Cloud downloads and installs the update automatically when you sign in. If you can't sign in, download the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Solution 2: Clean up cached user login information

  1. Close the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  2. Go to the OOBE folder.

    Windows: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

    macOS/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE

  3. Delete the opm.db file.

  4. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Solution 3: Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app and clean up cached user login information

  1. Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app.

    Windows

    • Open Control Panel > Programs And Features.
    • Select Adobe Creative Cloud and then select Uninstall/Change.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the app.

    macOS

    • Open Finder and go to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.
    • Select the Uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud file.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the app.
  2. Repeat the steps from Solution 2 to clean up cached user login information.

  3. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
