This article lists features that are not available in Adobe Premiere Elements and file formats that are no longer supported.

The following features have been removed in Adobe Premiere Elements:  

• DV capture
• HDV capture
• Timelapse capture (Stop motion)
  
• Export to FLV
  
• Export to Web DVD
• Face frame option in Pan & Zoom
• Interest slider in Smart Trim

Workaround for removed features

Alternate way to capture DV

Follow these steps to connect a DV camera and import video footage to Adobe Premiere Elements:

1. Connect the DV camera to the computer.
2. In the Autoplay dialog box that appears when you turn on the DV camera, click Import Video.
3. In the Name box, type a name for the video file or files that you will create, import, and then save to your computer.
4. Choose a location to save the video files from the Import to list, or click Browse to choose another location.
5. If you want to stop importing video before the end of the videotape, click Stop and then click Yes.
6. Click Finish.

The imported video is saved in Windows Photo Gallery. For more details, see this link.

Alternate way to capture HDV

Follow these steps to connect an HDV camera and import video footage to Adobe Premiere Elements:

1. Connect the HDV camera to the computer.
2. Launch WLXVideoAcquireWizard from the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery
3. In the Name box, type a name for the video file that you want to import.
   
4. Choose a location to save your video file from the Import to list, or click Browse to choose another location. Autorewind starts immediately.
   
5. Once tape rewind is complete, capture starts automatically.
6. If you want to stop importing the video before the end of the videotape, click Stop and then click Yes.

Note: Live capture from an HDV camera is not possible. The imported video is saved in Windows Photo Gallery. For more details, see this link.

Mac OS—HDV/DV

Follow these steps to connect an HDV camera and import video footage to Adobe Premiere Elements on Mac OS:

1. Connect the DV or HDV to the computer.
2. Launch iMovie and use it to capture DV/HDV.
3. Click the Camera icon and choose a device.
4. Choose Event (folder) where you want to save the captured video.
5. Click the Import/Capture button to start the capture.
6. If you want to stop importing video before the end of the videotape, click Stop.

Live video can also be captured from iMovie.

File formats not supported

The following file formats are not supported by Adobe Premiere Elements:

.avc, .PXR, .mkv, .flv, .MRW, .m1v, .mpe, .dib, .asx, .mpv, .avs, .DCR, .CRW, .hprj, .SRW, .kdc, .m2p, .mpa, .jpe, .RWL, .mp2, .ico, .NRW, .asf, .PEF, .264, .RAF
