Configure form fields for calculations
Learn how to set form fields calculations in Adobe Acrobat to automatically compute totals, averages, and other mathematical operations.
Set form fields for calculations
In the field properties dialog box, select Calculate.
Select how the field value should be determined:
- If you want users to input values manually, select Value is not calculated.
- If you want to set specific calculation options, select Value is the.
To choose the fields to include in the calculation, select Pick and then select the desired option from Value is the dropdown menu.
To use a Javascript with field names and basic arithmetic signs, select Simplified field notation. Select Edit to add or modify Javascripts.
To create a custom script for calculations, select Custom calculation script. Select Edit to modify or add Javascripts.
Select Close.
Set the calculation order of form fields
When you have multiple calculated fields that depend on each other, the order in which Acrobat performs these calculations becomes important to get an accurate result. For example, if Field C's value depends on the result of Field A plus Field B, you must set the order for A and B to be calculated before C.
Select Options of the Fields pane.
Select Set field calculation order.
In the Calculated Fields dialog box, select a field and use the Up and Down buttons to change its position in the calculation sequence.
Select OK.
