Have you found a feature missing in Illustrator on the iPad? You can use Illustrator on the desktop to access the full functionality.
Illustrator on the iPad does not support all the features that are currently available in Illustrator on the desktop. When you open a document created using Illustrator on the desktop, if the document includes objects or properties that have creation or transformation limitations on Illustrator on the iPad, the ? icon is shown for those objects in the Layers panel and on the bounding box on the canvas.
Missing fonts in a text frame
On selecting a text frame, if you see ! icon on the text frame and in the Layers panel: This indicates that one or more fonts used in this text frame are missing. You can upload your own fonts easily using Illustrator on the iPad.
Objects with view and edit support
On selecting an object, if you see the bounding box with contextual widget but with a message about non-supported object: This indicates that the selected object can be transformed using Illustrator on the iPad, but you cannot create this object currently using on the iPad. To create such objects, use Illustrator on the desktop.
For example, you can view and edit the gradient meshes, but cannot currently create them using Illustrator on the iPad.
Objects with view-only support
On selecting an object, if you see
icon on the bounding box and in the Layers panel, and no contextual widget is displayed: This indicates that the selected object cannot be currently created or edited using Illustrator on the iPad. To create and edit such objects, use Illustrator on the desktop.Non-supported objects
If you're unable to view an object, it indicates that the object is not currently supported on Illustrator on the iPad. To view, create, or edit these objects, use Illustrator on the desktop.
Illustrator on the iPad is evolving
With this release, Illustrator is taking its first step on the iPad. We aim to nurture your vector design experience on the iPad and provide feature parity across desktop and iPad through our future releases.
