Also applies to Acrobat Reader
With the March 2023 release of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, the software version will be updated from 22.xx to 23.xx.
Who is impacted by this change?
All customers on the Continuous track will be impacted. When enterprises deploy the new patch, users will move from version 22.xx to 23.xx.
Note:
Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader classic tracks are not impacted and will remain on 17.xx (Classic 2017) and 20.xx (Classic 2020).
What is changing?
- The new version number will appear on splash screens, MSI queries, ARP, DLL file versions, About box, and application version (for macOS). SCCM/Casper will also start reporting the new version.
- Any software audit scripts that check for the version number will begin reporting 23.xx version.
- The patch deployment scripts that use version number checks before applying a patch will need changes to handle 23.xx version number.
What is not changing?
- Installation paths, App data paths, plist paths, ActiveX controls, SCUP catalogs, and SCCM. Any preferences and third-party plugins installed should work as-is.
- Deployment method (this will be a standard patch therefore only the major version of the product will change).
- Patches will continue to be cumulative. You will be able to apply the 23.xx patch on any 22.xx version.
- Name in the Licensing Web Site (LWS).
- Acrobat Cleaner Tool.
- Installer and patch command lines are unchanged.
- For customized deployment, the customizations will remain unaffected.
- You don’t need to re-create your existing customizations to work with the new 23.xx packages.
