Acrobat PDF conversion fails due to virtual fonts on Windows

Fix Acrobat PDF conversion failure caused by virtual fonts on Windows.

If you encounter errors while converting documents in Acrobat, font-related issues may be the cause. Some virtual fonts and system font settings can interfere with the conversion process. Acrobat must be appropriately configured to process these fonts.

Acrobat relies on system fonts instead of document fonts

Use any of the following methods to resolve PDF conversion failures related to system font dependency:

Modify Adobe PDF Printer Properties

  1. Open a PDF in Acrobat

  2. Select File > Print.

  3. Select Adobe PDF from the list of printers, and then select Properties.

  4. Select Adobe PDF Settings and deselect Rely on system fonts only; don’t use document fonts.

Apply a registry fix

  1. Quit the Acrobat application if it's already running.

  2. Download the Registry fix.txt file.

    Download

  3. Rename the Registry fix.txt to Registry fix.reg

  4. Right-click Registry fix.reg and select Merge & Run.
