Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed

While importing a video file in Lightroom Classic, you get the following error:

An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed.

Solution

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

  1. Quit Lightroom Classic.
  2. Open Activity Monitor.
  3. Search for dynamiclinkmediaserver and dynamiclinkmediamanager.
  4. If these processes are still running, force quit them from Activity Monitor.
  5. Launch Lightroom Classic and try to import the video file.
  6. If you still get the same error, delete the following on your system:
    • /Users/<UserName>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/dynamiclinkmediaserver
    • /Users/<UserName>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/dynamiclinkmanager (if exists)

      Delete the following to clear Video Cache:
    • /Users/<UserName>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Video/Media Cache
    • /Users/<UserName>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Video/Media Cache Files
  7. Restart your system
  1. Quit Lightroom Classic.
  2. Open Task Manager.
  3. Search for dynamiclinkmediaserver and dynamiclinkmediamanager.
  4. If these processes are still running, force quit them from Task Manager.
  5. Launch Lightroom Classic and try to import the video file.
  6. If you still get the same error, delete the following on your system:
    • \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver
    • \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\dynamiclinkmanager

      Delete the following to clear the Video Cache
    • \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Video\Media Cache
    • \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Video\Media Cache Files
  7. Restart your system
הערה:

Check if any video playing application is running in the background which can interfere with video codecs. Close any such application and then try to import the video file. 

Video files stopped playing

Video files, which were playing earlier in Lightroom Classic, stopped playing now.

Solution

  1. Quit Lightroom Classic.
  2. Open Activity Monitor.
  3. Search for dynamiclinkmediaserver and dynamiclinkmediamanager.
  4. If these processes are still running, force quit them from Activity Monitor.
  5. Launch Lightroom Classic and try to import the video file.

  4. If these processes are still running, force quit them from Task Manager.
  5. Launch Lightroom Classic and try to import the video file.

Unable to import video

When you try to import a video in Lightroom Classic, the video does not get imported.

Reason

This issue can happen due to one of the following reasons:

Sluggish video playback

When you play a video in Lightroom Classic, the playback is sluggish. 

Reason

This issue can happen due to one of the following reasons:

  • The video file that you have imported has high frame rate (more than 60 fps). Videos with high frame rate are imported successfully. However, they don't play properly.
  • The video file that you have imported is a slo-mo video. Slo-mo videos don't play properly.

Lightroom Classic becomes unresponsive

Lightroom Classic becomes unresponsive while switching to Slideshow module or playing a video.

Solution

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  • Install any updates available for your OS.
  • Install any updates available for your GPU driver.
  • Clear cache.
  • Make sure you have enough disk space available.
