Extension is missing from Add-in file downloaded from a custom location

Pastaba:

This article applies to Adobe Connect versions that supports Adobe Connect add-in. Starting Nov 2017, Adobe introduced the new Adobe Connect application for desktop that replaces the old Adobe Connect add-in for Adobe Connect version 9.x and later. If you are on Adobe Connect version 8 or earlier, you can continue to use Adobe Connect add-in.

Issue

An Add-in's filename extension is missing after you download it from your Meeting Room. You changed the location of the Add-in in the language XML files.

Solution

Use a landing page like the "Getting Started" page in Connect so that your users can download the Add-in without error. For example, see link below. To browse to this link, replace <server> with your Connect server URL, and replace #lang# with the value for the language that you are using. For example, "en" (without quotes) is the value for English.

<server>/common/help/#lang#/support/addindownload.htm

Additional information

See the example below for further details.

Change <m id="addInLocation" platform="Windows">default</m> to <m id="addInLocation" platform="Windows">/common/addin/setup </m> in the following files:

  • <install folder>\appserv\web\common\intro\lang\introstrings-en.xml
  • <install folder>\appserv\web\common\meeting\lang\breezelivestrings-en.xml
  • <install folder>\appserv\web\common\meeting\lang\breezeopenmeetingstrings-en.xml

Where <install folder> is replaced with the installation path of Adobe Connect. Enter into the Meeting Room without the Add-in installed, then download the Add-in when prompted. The Add-in downloads with the name "setup" and lacks its filename extension (.exe).
