What are RdrCEF.exe and AcroCEF.exe processes and can I disable them?

When you launch Reader or Acrobat, the following additional processes are listed in the Windows Task Manager - RdrCEF.exe and AcroCEF.exe. What do these processes do and is it possible to disable them?

AcroCEF.exe/RdrCEF.exe are inseparable processes of Acrobat/Reader. They handle multiple integral aspects of application like network interaction and Document Cloud services (like Fill and Sign, Send For Signature, Share for view/review, and so on). These processes cannot be removed or disabled using any configuration or registry changes.
